I usually do a {this moment} post on Fridays, a moment from my week, just a picture with no words.
But I have to add a few words to this Friday’s post.
I took the picture on a very gray and dark morning. The clouds were covering the sky, gloomily. I was in the livingroom taking care of Sarah when all of a sudden I saw a bright light from the sky. The clouds had broken and the sun was shining directly through the crack…in all the big, wide sky, the clouds opened right in front of the sun. I ran outside to get the picture….which truly doesn’t give justice to the actual sight I saw. It was a gift.
Today is Good Friday, the day when we remember our Savior’s death on the cross. Such simple words, explaining an event that makes my heart feel so many emotions; gratitude, sorrow, love, excitement, awe, worship, praise……that my Father GAVE His only SON…..and that my Jesus GAVE His life, for the people He loves so very much. Why did He do it? He did it so that we could have forgiveness for our sins, to make us clean and new again, in Jesus’ own righteousness. So that we could live forever with Him. Eternal life.
But the story doesn’t end in Jesus’ death on Good Friday.
The best part of all….the most wonderful part that makes our hearts sing, is that HE ROSE AGAIN. He lives forever and ever! Resurrection Sunday is my favorite day of the year.
In the midst of the busyness of this day—welcoming friends and family to our home and shopping for a big Easter dinner—I will be thinking of Him, and talking to Him, in my heart. The children and I have been reading the passages in the Bible, too.
What a beautiful weekend, for Christ’s own people. I’m rejoicing!
Happy Easter weekend, from our home to yours.
For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:17
