Dear Older Lady (question #11) "she can laugh at the days to come"

 art035056

It’s Monday.  If you are a new reader to my site, this is the day in which we feature a question from a younger lady on xanga, which has been messaged to me privately.  The questions are for any experienced and/or older lady to answer.  I came up with this idea after meditating on Titus 2, in which the older ladies are encouraged to teach/encourage the younger ladies.  As women who believe and trust in Jesus Christ, we are all on this pilgrim journey together.  So often our society tricks us into thinking independently, rather than as a family or community.  Let’s unify.  Let’s edify one other and show the world we are Christ’s own beloved ones. . . .by our love.  Don’t let an opportunity to be a blessing pass you by~whether here on xanga, or in your day to day life.

We all go through hard times in our life. Can you give us an example of when you have trusted God during times of worry and fear?

What Godly principles have helped you through the times of fear and worry? In what ways were you or your family blessed once you were over that worry?

This question made me think about Proverbs 31:25

“She is clothed with strength and dignity;  she can laugh at the days to come.”

Laughing is quite the opposite of worry, isn’t it?  I love that!

Dear Older Lady (question #9) “fighting children”

SigsbeeKerBoyNGirlKissWDaisies11631  Here’s another great question for you experienced mothers, from a young xanga mommy!

“This could be for anyone with multiple children of older ages.  How do you deal with sibling squabbling? Mine are 2.5 and 5 years old, and their constant fighting drives me INSANE! I don’t know if there’s something I can do to cut down on it (I try to teach them to be loving toward each other, harder for the 2 yr. old  to understand though) or if it’s inevitable, in which case, how to I deal w/o going absolute crazy and end up yelling at the kids?”

Dear Older Lady (question #8) "finding balance"

Remember, these questions are not from me.  They are from you younger ladies on xanga who read my blog.  Please, keep thinking of anything you would like to ask an older lady and send me a message with it.  Thank you to all who share what the Lord has taught them through the years.  Monday is my extra-busy day so I will be back later to check in. . .Have a blessed day.  Love, Shanda

I have a hard time balancing everything, God, husband, children, school, chores and housework. It is important to keep up with the house but when you wear so many hats how do you find the right balance between them all?

What does it mean to you to be keepers at home?

Dear Older Lady (question #7) "Is there any time for me?"

Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good,

so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,

to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.

~Titus 2 (New American Standard Bible version)~

Dear Older Ladies~

Here is another question for you, from a young lady on xanga~

“How, with all of life’s busyness, do you find down time? I have no children/husband, and I already have a hard time finding ‘Me’ time.”

and, here is another question along those same lines, from a different lady~

I would like to know from the “older” women how/when/what their quiet time with the Lord was. Especially the homeschoolers, I find it a real matter of discipline to do it first thing in the morning, but boy does it make a difference in my day!
It would be great to hear how others incorporate that into their daily lives!

Thank you for your encouragement each week!!

Love,

Shanda

dear older lady question #6 “to simplify and be content”

These are good questions, but I cannot claim them as my own, a young lady sent them to me a few weeks ago.  I just copied and pasted her whole message into my blog.  Thanks for taking the time to answer, I will be looking forward to reading the responses.

Grace is improving every day and her biggest complaint currently is “my head hurts”.

“I have just thought of some “dear older lady” questions related to things I have been struggling with lately. How do you live “simply”? What are some ideas that you have for when children are little to keep things peaceful and simplistic? I feel like I keep trying to keep things simple and not try to keep up with society but life still gets so busy.

How did you choose to be content? I have a lot of dreams (moving out to the country, having a bigger family, adopting special needs, etc) I haven’t felt like God has cleared the way for them yet but I stuggle with trying to plan and work it out on my own, instead of just living for today. Since my dreams haven’t happened yet, I have a hard time being content because I am excited to move forward.”
