Oh, February 12th, the day I was born into.  A time of year in which, here in New England, sunshine is at a premium and it has been a long time since those warm days of summer.  So perhaps this is the reason God gave me this birth day…..as a spot of cheer, a day to remember and give thanks, a day to make a long “10,000” reasons list to be grateful, for my heart to sing.

1. salvation of my soul, and a hope of heaven
2. my family; Rich, and our seven children, parents, and siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins (both mine and Rich’s)
3. friendship
4. nature
5. books
6. the fruit of the spirit; love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control
7. my kitchen and all the baking I can do there
8. being a stay at home mom
9. a warm, cozy home to live in and to care for
10. a great big exciting world to enjoy

and on and on it goes………….

 

Thank you, Father, for another amazing year as your child.  I can see your blessings around me everyday and they often move me to tears.  I long and look forward to the future, trusting and resting in your Word and promises. 

 

The children had school today, and Rich made me eggs and toast before he went to work.  He said he will give me gifts later, which means he is probably leaving work early to shop.  (LOL)  I asked him if I could bake my own cake, because I truly do enjoy doing it, Seth and Sarah will sit on the counter and watch me and beg for tastes of the batter.

  1. Happy Birthday! Sounds like a perfect Birthday day to me. I love that song and am inspired by it. May you have any blessings this day. I love how Rich is giving you your gifts later. Sounds just like my husband..he’ll say we’ll do the celebrating later and I know it’s because he has to go and shop. Enjoy your day with your family.

How pretty they look in the snow, the promise of spring.I really like the picture of the heart shaped hands filled with purple, so sweet.Enjoy the evening with your family. I’m sure they will make it very special for you.(as far as your husband shopping after work..Lol, I think they all do that!)Happy Birthday!!! =)

  26. Happy Happy Birthday friend! (a day late) I agree this time of year takes a little bit more effort to find beauty, especially with all the rain we’ve been having, but it’s there, and birthday’s are great ways to spread a little cheer! Hope your week is blessed~ :o)

  29. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHANDA!!!!!!!!
    You take awesome pictures. I just love these ones. This post (and the next makes me so happy. Mostly because I find it refreshing to see a woman and mother who (could be haggard and downtrodden due to the business of life and running a large household of children) but knows it is ok to do a little something good for herself and isn’t afraid to show it. That is something that is incredibly hard for me to do, and the reason I have been a little blue lately, and can never find time for myself to work out more like I know I should,  I just don’t feel good enough…. a lie I have a tough time ridding myself of.
    SO today I am going to “stand” with you and tell myself that I AM AN AMAZING PERSON too 🙂 Just like you are!! Because in God’s eyes we are his beautiful and beloved creation.
