we are fine

My heart hurts for what happened here in our home state.  An evil has destroyed the lives of innocent children, the only consolation is imagining the love they feel now in heaven, with Jesus.

Thank you to my dear friends who have reached out to see if my family was okay, I am so moved by your love and concern.  Yes, we are fine.  My young son David came home from school oblivious to the events of the day and begged me to take him to the library, so we went, just the two of us.  When he asked for McDonald’s next, I said yes to that, too, taking my brother’s advice to make a memory.  I want to hold my children close.

Always in the back of my mind are thoughts and prayers for all familes who have lost loved ones at this very tender time of year.

Peace and love to you all.

  1. It is so sad, isn’t it? So unbelievable. I am glad you are all OK. I think we all have an ache in our hearts today thinking about this terrible thing which has happened. Your poster is so encouraging. I like thinking about those children experiencing a warm welcome from the Lord.

  2. It breaks my heart every time it’s mentioned.  I just can’t even being to imagine what those parents and family members are going through!  I’m so glad to hear you and yours are all safe and sound.  I don’t think I realized you lived in Connecticut…

  3. as soon as I thought of you guys…i wondered where you are. i knew that you were in Connecticut somewhere…glad to hear you are well. Glad to know that you are making memories with the kids, like you normally do…and hold them close.

  4. It pains too many people around the world when we all heard of that tragic news … Anyone that do such thing to little children has no mind and no heart – just emptiness, darkness, cold & evil … Praying for the families of the dead kids and also for their friends who are traumatized by such tragedy … We pray that the LORD gives them all the strength to recover … Amen, amen!

  6. We have been riveted to the TV and sickened as the events unfolded. Praying for those in Newtown. Can’t imagine the heartache. Our daughter is thinking of ways to make her classroom safer.Hold your kids closer.D xo

  7. @asylum_c – I think you will find that Shanda always ‘holds her children close’ and is very skilled at the art of ‘making memories’ with her family, that is why so many people love her blog and keeping up with her, if you were not trying to be rude why did you need to say these things at all?

  8. Shanda, I was so happy to see that you were all ok. We are praying for all of the families who lost loved ones, teachers, and all involved in this horrible event. Thank you for adding that picture. It gives comfort.

  9. I’m soo glad to hear that you and your family are fine! As a regular reader (and rare commenter) on your blog, you were the first thing I thought of when I heard CT! Prayed for you right away! Thanks for letting us know all is well with you! Praying for those affected!
