(just because)

Rich got home from work last night at 9:30pm.  He was supposed to do the same tonight.

But he surprised me by coming home 4 hours before I thought he would!

I was on the couch under a blanket, very tired, in sweats, flipping aimlessly through tv stations.  The kids already had their dinner and were all playing a computer game.  It had been a very long day (including a trip to the dentist and the grocery store).

He walked in and said he had been watching me through the door and that I looked so sad, like a wounded rabbit on the side of a road.    (not exactly like June Cleaver, huh?)

I was feeling so yuck and Rich sat down to talk to me looking so nice, that I got my camera out to take his picture.

I feel so protected and safe when Rich is home with us.

He said he came home early because he knew I would need help tonight. . .and I said “God must have told you”. . .I was so grateful!   The kids were, too.

  1. Okay, I’m going to start crying pretty soon.  Thursday can’t come soon enough!
But I have to laugh at how completely different our husbands look when they come home from work!! Farming just has it’s very own look!

  2. Yours is home and mine is gone.  I’m so glad that Rich came home early for you tonight.  I’ve been thinking of you all day.  My hubby flew away for training and won’t be home until Saturday morning.  I have gotten used to having him home all of the time.  I miss him already!  Have a great evening!

  3. Aw, how sweet.  I love the pictures…I’m glad he came home early for you.  Are you sick again? 😦  Poor thing…I hope you feel better soon.  Have a good night.  Love, Trish

  4. Thanks for the comment! I always enjoying reading your posts – especially that last one about your journal. I’ve wanted to do something like that for a while, but I lack the “start-up motivation.” 🙂 I can really relate to this post also – my husband is a full-time student and also works full time, so he gets home every night about 11:30p. Those evening hours can be looooong and stressful, and are definitely my most likely time to get on edge. The odd evenings when he’s home are like a wonderful gift!

  5. What a wonderful surprise and what a sweet blessing!
Your family is so beautiful and I love all the pictures by the nice, cozy fire. They all look like they just love their Daddy and he loves them.
Thanks for sharing. God is always faithful, isn’t He?
    Blessings to you,
    Jana

  6. AWWWWWW, so precious.  I love the second one of Rich…though I feel like we are peeking into his look just for you!  How sweet and encourging, I love the kids all around Dad too.  Our boys used to cry “our Daddy’s home, our Daddy’s home”  ….music to the ears   What a warm home and family to come home to…even if dear mommy looks like a sad wounded rabbit.  May the Lord strengthen, heal, and refresh you!  Jenny

  7. What a beautiful family!  🙂  Yeah, it’s really hard sometimes being a mom of young children, with all the responsibilities.  Rewarding, but hard.  Thank God for His grace!  It seems like I blow it so often with my temper or frustration.  😦  This is another reason I love my xanga friends…  We can encourage eachother!  Have a blessed and peaceful day today, Shanda.

  8. I have thanked our Father several times for giving you Rich.  I am sure things aren’t always perfect, but last night shows that you two and HIM are on the same wavelength.  I hope you rested well last night and that today is gentle with you.

  9. He does look awfully handsome, Shan. I’m so glad he just “knew” to come home early and help you out. Those little God Things mean more than the big stuff, don’t they? I hope you have hopped out of the road and are feeling better this morning, Rabbit.

  10. So sweet! Gotta love a man who comes home early to help out his dear wife! It is so good to have a strong man to depend on. God new what He was doing when he designed marriage, I tell ya.
Love the pics of the kids all piled up on daddy too…so nice! What is it that makes kids go running to the front door when daddy comes home…”D A D D Y!!!!!!”

  11. Another set of great pictures, Shanda! You (and a few others) inspired me to try harder to post some pictures and I did this morning, if you care to stop by and take a peek.My girls go “nutso” when Jesse arrives home and, well, I guess I do too! Nice guy you’ve got there!
