1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup confectioner’s sugar

cream in mixer

add 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon peppermint extract

then add 2 1/2 cups flour

half a teaspoon salt and mix well.

divide dough in half; mix red food coloring into half the dough

chill until firm enough to handle

now comes the fun part: playing with the dough

make two ropes with each color dough, twist together into a cane.

bake each tray at 375, 8-10 minutes
