I took these pictures this morning.  We had a loud rain/thunder/wind storm last night, with snow at the end for good measure.  It was such a blessing to see the sun come out (this was about 7am).  It’s cloudy and cool today, the sun goes in and out from the clouds.  I was going to go walking with Seth but decided the wind and fickle sunshine would keep us indoors today.

I hate to admit, but I am continuing to suffer/struggle here with negative emotions/thoughts.  It’s been so hard.  Couldn’t sleep last night.  Today I am trying to focus on keeping a pleasant face and voice for the children; and no complaining words, or deep sighing.

When I feel hopeless; I know there is hope in Christ.

When I feel so sad; I know that my joy comes from Him.

The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.  Deuteronomy 33:27

And He said unto me, my grace is sufficient for thee:  for my strength is made perfect in weakness.  Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.  Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake:  for when I am weak, then am I strong.  2 Corinthians 12:10

Take therefore no thought for the morrow; for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.  Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.  Matthew 6:34

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father in Heaven give good things to them that ask Him?  Matthew 7:11

Trust in the Lord and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.  Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give thee the desires of your heart.  Commit  your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He will do it.

God is my refuge and strength, a very present help in my struggles.

When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord.  Jonah 2:7

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.  Galatians 6:9

That He would grant you according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man.  Ephesians 3:16

  1. I love all those verses..how encouraging!!! These are the kinds of things we need to meditate on!!  I hate to admit it too but I’ve been really struggling with negative thoughts and awful sad emotions as well. It’s been rough lately and I can relate to what you are saying. I will pray for you!! You’re often in my thoughts too! May you have a wonderful peace filled day today!! We are hoping to go to the xmas tree farm on Friday after school. Have you got your up yet? Cant wait to put it up and also to see pictures of your xmas season!! I love those posts you do every year..they always encourage me to be good and loving to my family and to be appreciative of every one of them too! You’re an inspiration to me and I’m sure to others as well Shanda!! Dont let Satan bring you down!! You have a bright and wholesome future ahead of you!!

  2. I see you winter season emerging, as the woods finish Autumn and turn to Wintertime. Praying for you dear Shanda. I listened to a sermon recently, and the Pastor reminded us that our salvation is a gift, and if it is a gift from God then why do we strive after the lesser things, or think we need to earn them. It really ministered to me, in the area of healing and receiving from God. It is not something I have to “do right”, but keep pressing into Him and living life in Christ. I think you are doing that, and just wanted to encourage you in it. I am praying for you! I am missing you too. Only problem with seeing you in person is wanting to see you more Love you, Jenny

  3. Don’ thate to admit it.  We can pray for you better if you do.  Plus it’s good to admit our faults to one another so we can pray for each other and be healed.  Life gets discouraging sometimes.  I love to read the Psalms because David was often down, but in almost every Psalm you can find at least 1 verse of encouragement and praise to God.

  4. When I am confronted with difficulties, I frame it as a test.Only by His Grace do I pass the test. When my focus strays from Him, I fail every time.He allows those difficult times to strengthen me, to test my resolve to trust Him more. Moment by moment.D xo

  5. WOW those pictures are like photos in a magazine or in the form of a puzzle!! Love them.I think of you often too and pray for you, speak verses over you and your family. I hope the sunshine helps lift your spirits or some praise n worship played day and night.I hope this Christmas season fills you with renewed hope and joy.

  6. I’m quoting from a little book. The author will not mind my writing here: “You do not know how God will solve your problems. God will not let you know beforehand. Nor do you need to know. But one thing is certain, God the Father will solve your problems. Let this knowledge be sufficient for you. Praise His love, which cannot do otherwise but grant aid. In thanking and praising the Father’s love, you draw down His help. You will experience that God inclines Himself to you, fills your life with His peace, His joy, His solace, and brings you the aid you long for.” (M. Basilea Schlink)Instead of focusing on *trying* (in your strength) to have “a pleasant face,” try to picture (and feel in your heart) Jesus standing next to you. Let the knowledge of His presence put a *for real* pleasant look on your face; because, He is there in your ear whispering, “I’m right hear, Shanda – it’s okay.” xo xo
