okay, here’s the scoop

The umbilical cord was in the way so my doctor could not tell me anything except that if she had to guess she would say it was a girl because she saw “no boy parts”.

I have another ultrasound scheduled on January 25 so hopefully I will find out more at that time.

Doc gave Grace (who was right there with me) a high five, but said “don’t get too excited yet”.

You can imagine how I feel.  You would all be right, because my emotions and thoughts about the subject are all over the place!

  1. Stubborn baby! (Or as my two-year-old Joy would say, “Silly Baby!”) Jan 25 isn’t too far away – hopefully he/she will cooperate better then! At least you know it’s a healthy, growing baby, which is the most important part anyway.

  2. I was checking back to your blog often to see if you blogged the news!  Oh, darn…we have to wait :).  Praying you stay well and deliver a healthy baby!

  3. When I had my ultrasound for my girl, I didn’t see any boy parts – and I was pretty good at spotting them by then.  Anyway the doc informed me that it,”Wasn’t the absence of boy parts that made her a girl, but the presence of girl parts.” 🙂  How many weeks are you?

  4. Oh, thank you for giving us the update…though inconclusive…we all wait with you and Miss Grace This is a good reminder to pray for you and the baby Shanda!

  5. I had the same thing happen with Lakelyn…. couldn’t really tell – don’t get too excited statement made to us… no boy parts …It’s been my experience too that with boys, they aren’t “bashful.” My girls seem to always have something “floating” in the way to see, or having their back to the ultrasound, or legs crossed. Sooo, my guess, you’ve got a GIRL! sorry, I’m going to go ahead and get excited for you… 🙂

  6. This reminds me of when I had my last child…I was told they couldn’t tell for sure but didn’t see anything floating around:) Kimberly arrived soon after:)).  If it helps, everyone that I know who is pregnant right now-including my daughter-in-law, my neice, and quite a few others-is having a GIRL!!!  Bring on the pink!

  7. oh man….that is so unfair!…don’t worry though…time goes quickly and before you know it it will be your next appointment!!I think of you so often throughout the day:)

  8. Thats great you went today and the baby is healthy and all! They told me that with Laura and Sienna. Usually I think with girls, they are not always 100 % sure.

  9. Oh, my goodness, Shanda! What a suspensful day!:) I will be watching and waiting to hear the about the next ultrasound. Wow! Hopefully the baby will be in a better position without the cord blocking next time. Either way….that baby will be loved whether it’s another strapping, handsome young man or a pretty little girl like Grace.(((hugs))) to you!

  10. Perhaps that cord wasn’t entirely umbilical, but telephonic. It’s a girl!Congratulations that you have not been able to peek inside the gift wrap yet. Anticipation is a wonderful gift, enjoy it fully.

  11. Argh!Oh well.My daughter in law recently went for an ultrasound for their #4…That had agreed to find out the sex of the child this time.Alas….the baby’s feet were crossed and the umbilical cord was hiding the…ummm…”parts”.!!!!!:(Time will tell, time will tell. Will now have to wait until the arrival date in May.Have a good day, Shanda.xo

  12. I am so good at this, I should go into the baby guessing business LOL I’ve been having girl vibes for you all along, same with Janice. 😀  We’ll have to wait longer for her to find out, but hopefully you’ll get confirmation soon!! 😀
