My dear friend (and cousin!) Elisha was here from Sunday to Tuesday afternoon.  As always, we had a nice time together talking, laughing, singing, hanging out, spending time with the children.

We went for a walk together on Sunday.

It was cool and damp, and it lightly rained on and off.

The ferns were slowly opening.

We found wild violets by the stream.

They were light purple, with a darker purple center.

We decided this was the perfect place for a little woodland creature….quite cozy, I’m sure.

And we even stood still and listened to a bright red male cardinal call and sing.  It’s mate answered in the distance.

I picked myself a small bouquet of wild flowers.

My husband is away on a business trip and it was wonderful to have Elisha here to keep us company while he was away (he’ll be back tonight).  She has such a loving heart, and was ready to laugh and have fun with me and my household of children!  We were all sorry when she had to go back home.

  1. I love the last picture. It’s so sweet. How nice to have a good friend come visit when your hubby is away. Those times are priceless.

  2. Lovely! I am hoping that I can talk a friend or two into coming to Denmark for a visit this summer. I would LOVE that! Your woods are so beautiful! Violets! They are such determined little flowers!

  3. Those violets are awesome!  We went for a walk over our 30 acres over the weekend and I found yellow violets, pure white ones, and lots of different shades of purple.  Our yard is covered with white ones that have purple centers.  I need batteries for my camera before they all die!  Thanks for sharing your violets.

  4. I am not close with any cousins. (My husband on the other hand has a cousin so close that they are really like brothers.) I am envious of this kind of relationship. What lovely photos of your time together. 🙂

  5. Elisha’s blue eyes are so breath-taking in the picture second from the bottom! I am happy you both had a fun time together, and I am happy you were not all alone while Rich was away:) Have a nice peaceful evening and smile I love you ~Sissy

  6. Looked like such a great visit with your cousin. Thanks for taking us along on your ramble. I have always loved violets! David says the tree is just the sort of home for Peter Rabbit. The bouquet and countryside are lovely…as is your cousin. What great eyes, hair, and face!

  9. I love the color of the newly unfurled ferns in the wild.  I have a fern in my flowerbed, but it just isn’t the same as seeing one in “the wild”.

  10. Isn’t it so fun to watch spring unfold? It’s my favorite time of year. How nice that you have woods and a pond to explore even more.
Thank God for good sweet company when husbands are away! :0)
