I have been able to spend the majority of this day alone. These pictures, that I took today on a little walk by our stream, represent to me the feelings of slowing down, and resting, that were given to me like a gift. My mind feels peaceful again.
That top verse, Mark 6:31, makes me chuckle a little, “for there were many people coming and going, and they (the disciples) did not even have time to eat”…..as a mother of five, I often feel that way. Sometimes I don’t eat “lunch” until 2!
Anyway, it was a wonderful day….

Wow.. Ms Shanda I needed to hear these words so much! I am currently crushed with the burrden of nursing exams, and my soul is weary and discouraged, not to mentioned totally overwhelmed!!! Thank you for sharing these quiet words.
This is such a beautiful post. Thank you for sharing these pictures of your stream with us. I’m glad you had a wonderful, peaceful day.
The hanging icicles are beautiful and it looks like you must have escaped the worst of the eastern seaboard’s major ice storm.
Wow, beautiful pictures. So peaceful and calming. Love the quotes too. I’m glad you got some alone time. Do you have the Handbook of Nature Study (I feel like I’ve asked you this before?) It’s funny how way back in 1911 Anna Comstock wrote about nerve tension. And how much more we have today!
Gorgeous. Glad you were able to enjoy some solitude.
Beautiful, Shan! Beautiful verses and quotes, and beautiful pictures to go with them. I am so glad that you were able to spend some time in solitude today.
Looks pretty cold there! It’s cold and windy here, but no ice or snow at the moment ~ soon though, I think ~
Thank you for hsaring these peaceful reminders,Shanda. I am a bit overwhelmed with some things right now and this was just what I needed to be read.
I love these amazing, crispy, ice pictures! I hope you are all okay there; I heard that a huge ice storm affected the northeastern states and practically pushed my hubby away from the computer so that i could get on here and see if you had posted anything! hugs and prayers, Gail
My soul has be quieted
such an encouraging post…and I know that sometimes I get so caught up in the busyness of my day that I really don’t take the time to appreciate the country in which I find myself…I am in Germany, and I hope that in the coming weeks that I can go out for some walks and discover what truths about God are evident in his creation here…
How nice to have such beautiful woods on and near your own property, where you can walk in solitude and relax.
Very Peaceful.
I’m glad you had a peaceful day and I enjoyed these photo’s, quotes, and scripture. Love you, Lish

This was amazing from the pictures to the scriptures to the quotes. Thanks for sharing.
Very lovely Shanda. I pray you are refreshed! I especially love the last one…seems so sparkling. Jenny
Sometimes, I read your words, and I wonder if I know what is on your mind …
I’m off to my electric blanket and a warm cup of chamomile and lavender tea. That is MY relaxation!
Praying for you, too.
There was something about this post that brought tears to my eyes today. It was absolutely beautiful, Shanda!
Love how the light is shining on the ice, Chloe is behind me on the chair as I type, she is spraying water on my hair and then combing at, humming and talking to me in her best grown-up hair stylist voice.
God’s gift of nature and quiet time is priceless isn’t it?
