Three cheers for Saturday! Wow, what a week it’s been, all good things ~ but still, tiring! I’m glad to have my husband home today, to say the least. I feel lighter, and happier, and brighter. It’s wonderful to have someone bigger than me around the house, someone who calls me beautiful and gives me bear hugs and makes me coffee. . . .It was also SO good to get away from the house for a bit this morning, driving around in the truck. . .all crammed in together with music playing and the kids talking to us.
We have company coming this evening and I am looking forward to a good time. I’m making myself simplify and not run around like a mad-woman, cleaning and cooking. Rich is grilling the meats, and our guests are bringing the side dishes. Rich and the children cleaned the house, and if it’s not done “perfectly” so much the better. . .this is a home that is lived in. What matters most is the sweet fellowship we can have, with our friends.
There will be a total of 14 children here, all under the age of 11. And, 8 adults. Thankfully, the sun is out and shining, because earlier it was drizzly. I want to see the children running around the yard, enjoying the ponds, and trampoline, and maybe exploring one, or more, of their forts in the woods.

Rich and I do so love our little passengers . . . .handsome Jacob sat up front with us, talking my ear off about legos, and the rest of them were all sitting snuggly in the backseat. In about 5 or so months, these trips in the truck won’t be possible, because of our new little one.
Caleb, with his coloring
Grace singing while looking out the window, Ethan (wearing his new hat, is he cute or what? I keep humming Gilligan’s Island whenever I look at him) and Davy-do looking at a new book.
If only everyday could be a Saturday! ![]()
PS, I found these adorable shoes today and ordered them:
They’re my happy shoes!

I completely understand about having someone bigger that you around! I’m so thankful God gave me my husband as I’m sure you are too with yours! What would we do without them? So wonderful to hear you’re having a great Saturday…we are too! Enjoy tonight with your company…
So glad you have Rich home today! Have fun with your company tonight. My mom is here, and we are up in Anchorage at my sister’s!
I know what you mean. My husband has been away to and it’s so nice having him home! Caleb does a great job coloring! He is very into his coloring to by the picture:) Enjoy your cookout! It sounds like a wonderful time.
Love the new shoes! They look very comfy.
what a fun sounding Saturday! Enjoy your company, and I like your relaxed way of getting ready for them, I need to be more like that….=)
I need some happy shoes! Those are great
Sounds like you will be having a wondeful day full of blessing…. have a great time!!!
You look so incredibly small and cute hugging your husband! Sounds like a wonderful day. I love the truck pictures of everyone snuggled up. Davy-do looks so much older! Three cheers for Saturday. We did lots of gardening this morning. My hubby caught a cold …so is having a slower day….but likewise said I was cute this morning when I made him tea and oatmeal. He also laughed at me in the garden when I was determined to move a big old plant….I dug it up but it was too big to move by myself. Big hugs to you, Jenny
oh, forgot to say…..I love that look of concentration on Caleb’s face. One of my favorite looks on little one’s faces. I always wanted to grab them and kiss them when they concentrate that way.
I was just thinking the same thing as ABAHM – you look so small and cute in that picture with Rich; I LOVE IT! Shanda, I really admire your determination to keep things simple with the guests coming; perfectionism has always been a weakness of mine. But the mindset of hospitality and fellowship, not entertainment/”showcase home”, is what is important. The shoes are adorable and look very comfortable! They will look cute with a lot of things.
I hear orange is the new black! Seriously. I love the color of tangerine. 🙂
I walked the beach this morning with Doris and she told me David started school this week and that is when I realized I hadn’t been on Xanga much lately. It was nice to sit here a bit and catch up. I am so glad David’s first days of school have gone so well. I love his first day of school pictures. Glad your week has gone smoothly as well. Love the new shoes, very cute.
Cute shoes! I hope you had a good time tonight. We were at the Metzgers and all their children kept mine entertained and happy the whole time, so it was nice and relaxing for me. I could fellowship without watching children!I love Saturdays, too. You and Rich look so cute in that picture.
I hope you guys had an excellent time this evening. As Cathi said, the Metzger kids (and my Case) were great with the kids, so we got to have some nice grown up time, it was fabulous. 🙂
Sounds like fun! You and Rich are so cute together. Love the picture. What a fun Saturday planned. Hope you had a good day!
Sounds like you guys had a fun filled evening today!
Those shoes make me happy too. I really wouldn’t mind borrowing….or how about when you get sick of them you send them my way…I am sure you will look totally totally adorable in them..
