just for fun!!!!

(this is to make you laugh)

I just called the doctor and found out that my kids have a very rare case of something called “Electric Ear”.  It started this morning after breakfast, David got it first.  The Doctor said, although it is rare, it should go away on it’s own.  If it’s not gone by tomorrow I have to go to Target and get some special cream to put in it.  Its called “Electric Cream, for the illness no one wants to hear about”.  It’s put out by, can you believe it, GE!

Thankfully it is not painful.  As you can see by the pictures, the kids are in happy spirits this morning (although Jacob complained of the heat).  It was scary for me, though, I was not ready for the . . . “shock”. . .

I’m glad I called the doctor and found out what it was.  I was so afraid that they would start glowing in other parts of the body.  Like the nose for instance.

Please pray for me today.  I’m still shaking.  I hope they clear up soon, I really wanted to go someplace.  I just can’t take them out in public like this.

Thanks for understanding.  I hope that in sharing this, I might find at least one other family that has gone through it.  I could really use some encouragement.  I feel like a terrible mother.

I thought Grace said it well,

“It’s embarrassing.”

  1. My heart dropped when I read “urgent Prayer request”- then to see smiling faces… ahhh… I feel better now.Electric Ear- how cute. You put an early morning smile on my face- and that is as rare as EE!!Have a great day!

  2. ROTFL – Read “Urgent Prayer Request.” Started praying on the way over. Very concerned. Didn’t want Shanda to have another bad day. I think it added to my hysteria. Good thing my boss had just left or I would have embarresed myself.
Thanks for the humor – my day will be much better!!!!!

I just changed the title of the post to “just for fun” when I realized that I was sounding too convincing!  David was playing in a sunbeam this morning and I had to laugh when I saw his glowing ears.
This is another instance when, in photography, lighting is everything!

  4. I don’t know…does it come back even after you use the cream?  Is it contagious?  I mean…what if YOU get it?
/chuckle  You make me want to get my camera out.

  5. mmm…….have no fear you Dear Sweet Little Mama………my children used to get Electric Mouth but when the flashlight batteries wore out they recovered………….you are a rascal…….

  6. I just saw the just for fun and thought oh I missed that the first time.  Good to know that you aren’t really glowing.  I mean you all do have a glow about you, but I’m glad to know it’s not because of a disease.  Hey you all saw the man with the blue face?!  This electric ear thing isn’t such a stretch

  7. You silly!  You had me convinced! I’m glad I read the comments!  Oh, but I must admit that as a teen someone told me gullible was NOT in the dictionary and I believed them.  Honestly.

  8. Oh  my word…SHANDA! I signed on to Xanga and saw your “urgent prayer request” message and “ran” right over to your site praying…whatever it is Lord, be with her today….YOU CRAZY GIRL!!!!!!! Hahahah…..How funny!!!

  9. I’m no better than some of the others -I did a web search on “electric ear” to see if was real or not before posting my “sympathies”!  Good smile for this morning.

  10. I had to read the comments to see if it was really true or not:)   When I first looked at the pictures I thought it was from the sun, but then I thought maybe it’s not:)   You are funny, that was a good one.

  11. Shanda! I research “electric ear” and found it’s real and comes from our cell phone’s radio frequency. The ear absorbs the radio frequency and causes the ear tissue to glow and become red.I’m so glad (and relieved) to reread your post and see you were joking. I couldn’t imagine your children each having cell phones or you allowing them to spend that much time on one!I was ready to yank my husband’s blue tooth device from him (another culprit of electric ear).

  12. I’ll have to admit…I believed you at first. I never expected this from you…but I guess there is a little stinker in all of us.Now I know you better, Shanda. The kids are enjoying this as much as you are….see what you are passing on? 🙂 Love you.

  13. You are such a dork. LOL I’m going to have to smack you for this one…hehe.  Grace’s face cracked me up, her ears look the brightest.  Well, you gave me a good laugh, so that’s a very good thing.  Oh, by the way, those pictures I posted of the eclipse, I took them with my old camera, because it has the awesome zoom capabilities. 🙂  Have a great day, dear.

  14. Oh, my! I must be a total ditz! I even googled it! Hahaha!!! Now I am laughing after reading all of the comments!!! When I first saw the pictures I was like, “That looks like sun shining through their ears…but I guess if she says it is something different it must be!!!” So funny! Your kids are so cute! Adorable pictures!

  15. You are so funny….these are fun pictures…you know we are all going to check if our kids get “electric ear”  ….my husband actually gets “electric nose” pretty much regularly…..I always say he only has to look out the window to get a red nose.   blessings on your day.  Our visiting baby girl is fussing so gotta go!  Jenny

  16. Oh, those ears are so great!!!!  You know I will have to experiment now!   James got me a Nikkon D40X for my birthday last year and I must say, “I love that camera!!!!”  Man is it ever fun to take pictures now!  My old camera gave me such fits.
Great morning laugh, thank you for sharing.

  17. Until I read the other comments, I was going to say that it was hard to distinguish this ‘disease’ from some pretty sunny backlighting!  How funny that it was so strong — I love your story about it, too!  Hmmm — Electric Cream — at Target — I’ll have to look for some!

  18. RYC – I am glad if I can be encouraging. God is good. The greatest reward is to have my children walking with the Lord.  There is a difference in the way they look at life, and I am blessed to say my boys are all walking and serving God.  We are also very blessed with a close relationship…. they will call to ask our opinion and for prayer   Great reward.  Hardest thing is to let them go….but my husband says the reward for him is I come looking for hugs   God bless you! Jenny
