I know there are many that are down at this time of year. We that live in the cold climates aren’t getting enough fresh air and sunshine. There is lack of color outdoors. We are spending too much time inside of buildings and too close to people, even our family seems annoying at times. . . .
So, take a deep deep breath, in and out. . . and remember, warmer weather is coming! It’s going to take few months, but it is coming! I hope you enjoy the photos and thoughts about spring and summer.

It’s spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want – oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!
~Mark Twain
Awake, thou wintry earth –
Fling off thy sadness!
Fair vernal flowers, laugh forth
Your ancient gladness!
~Thomas Blackburn, “An Easter Hymn”
No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow. ~Proverb
What do you love about spring and summer?

I love the clean, new feeling you get in spring. I also love spending time outside.
(I’m VERY glad to hear Weston is home. That’s an answer to a lot of prayers.)
I am already looking forward to spring and starting my container garden. I feel light and airy in the spring.
o i can’t wait! so ready for the cold and snow to be gone:)love gardening, garage sales, flip flops, just being outside…
Amen, sister! Now’s when we really need to “band together” to get through the winter blahhs….enjoyed the pictures, that little boy/frog one is precious….=)
I love thinking of the new life that is born each spring. I love opening windows and feeling fresh air. And I can’t WAIT to talk my hopefully-walking-by-then baby outside to run around. (And Ainsley, too, of course.) 🙂
You have blessed me as you usually do. I browsed through your site catching up on your posts. I could comment on each and every entry but shall condense it into one………..your tribute to your husband is simply beautiful and he is indeed mightily blessed to have your sweet love and respect. The lipsticked son, the little girl reading on the top of her book case, the wonderful little new born, the touch of spring etc etc…….But your wonderful tribute to your man shows that you are indeed a very wise woman. Your site is always an inspiration to me.
It was so nice to see your spring/summer pics….ah a nice break!!I love open windows, a warm breeze, sitting on the porch with a glass of iced tea watching the kids frolic in the yard! Going to the park, the beach, anywhere outside!!! 🙂
Great pictures! Funny to read your children’s answers… I like when the days are longer, and it’s warm outside so we can stay outside, it’s time for vacation too (I’m a College student!), to feel happier. Finally, as I live by a forest, it’s more beautiful in Spring and Summer time! Right now, there are no leaves, no grass and no flowers when I take a look at the forest through my window. It looks so sad! Spring and Summer are going to change that! It’s bizarre how those seasons change our mood too! -delphine, France
oh how I long for spring and summer right now!! I love the brightness of it, the colors, the smells, the warmness!
I did very much enjoy the breath of spring air you’ve treated me to today. Here in Illinois it’s 48 degrees and I walked this morning with my friend again (we skipped all last week because the temps were below zero) and I got my dose of Vitamin D. I resisted the urge to cover my “morning hair”. Don’t worry, there’s a winter storm warning in effect now and it’s supposed to get to -20 tonight. What I like about spring and summer is how care free it seems. Spontaneous. You can have nothing planned when you wake up and then turn it into an awesome summer memory by days end. And that days end seems so much later.
Beautiful pictures. I love being able to open all the windows and fill the air with the warm breeze that comes in. I love all the flowers and trees that are at their brightest here at those times of year. I’m really looking forward to this particular spring and summer because I’ll have my new little guy here in May, and being our first year homeschooling, I also look forward to taking the kids to the park and doing school outside when the urge strikes us.
Thank you for the violet picture. They are hugs from God for me.
Spring and summer…I love airing the house out. Opening the windows and just having sweet spring air sweep all the winter yuck out. Lots and lots of sunshine
I love the first day that I can open my windows wide and let the warm breeze sweep through my house. It will be here soon…right???
LOL love the frog picture! spring was my most favorite season when my children were little just because it was warmer and they could go out and play for hours in the sunshine again. it made the happy and this mother a better mother having some free time in the house ALONE again to get it organized. i could hardly wat for those 60 degree, sunny days!!! funny you should mention the winter being blah because i have learned to accept winter as my favorite season of the year. it used to have me downtrodden and blue but i learned so many tricks to fight that over the years that it is now my most treasured time of year! isn’t it funny how that happens? ideally i used to think i would love to live somewhere that the temperature was always 60 to 70 degress everyday with lots of sunshine, but not anymore. i absolutely adore the four seasons and what they offer (ok perhaps not the 100 degree, 90% humid days in the deep of the summer which i dread in atlanta better known at hotlanta but you know what i mean). good post and i love the hope of spring which will be here before we know it.
oops, i forgot to proof read above and apologize for the typos! 🙂
I thoroughly enjoy the pictures this morning…I could almost feel the fresh breeze coming through the open windows. I love the smell of the the first mowing of the lawn after winter, the new green growth and budding on the plants that have lain dormant, and the sound of baby birds chirping. BTW…an army doctor in Alaska once told us(as we were chronically sick up there one year) to air the house even in the winter…for five minutes or so. It worked!!! I had kept the house clean and sanitized but the air was stagnant. It was advice that I have used ever since. Happy spring to you all.
Ah, spring! Now I have spring fever too. Love the butterfly picture.
I always have spring fever from new year’s day on. The things I love most about spring and summer is letting the kids run wild in the backyard, folloing after them with my camera and capturing their souls in the great sunlight.
I love the photo fo the boy and the frog. Is that your son?
P.S. Came across your blog from Resolved2Whorship. Hope you don’t mind.
I really enjoy all four seasons. I lived in San Francisco for 17 years (as a child) and one season blended into the next with temperatures only slightly varying. I have never grown tired of the definition of each season and only crave the next season when it’s a few weeks away.I love spring because of the newness of life and . . . the BIRDS COME BACK! I’m a bird lover, obviously!
LOVE, LOVE The pictures so refreshing to see!!! I love you Robin stone too and the children are adorable….can you tell me what camera you use please??? I am shopping for a new one and I love your pictures on your site!!! Thank you Have a wonderful day Blessings, Robin
T-shirts and capris, flip flops EVERY DAY, driving with the sunroof open and windows down, watching Sam dig in the dirt…
Daffodils and warm breezes. Thank you for the whisper of things to come. I am taking our advice and finding some narcissis bulbs on the way home from work. I saw some growing in a window today and sighed, “why didn’t I do that yet?” I loved the little girl-tulip huddled among the other pink tulips like a spring fairy. Of course her name has to be Grace. Thank you dear heart. Glad the kids liked the strawberry tea! Love and blessings from SC
The part about dogshows with Parker made me smile! The girls had fun doing dogshows with Charlie last summer. That poor dog was put through his paces! The worst part about living in Alaska is that we don’t get spring. Love the pictures, though! I can enjoy spring through your camera (when it arrives). I am looking forward to summer and camping trips with my hubby and kids and the dog.
It’s hard for me out here in southern california to understand this longing for Spring. We live in a hot, bown and dry land, so I LOVE winter with it’s wild storms and life giving rains, that turns our hills green and makes wild flowers bloom. I love the cold days with a chance to bundle up and sit by the fire at night with those I love
Hi I am a friend of Amys were you able to sign in? If not let me know & I will catch you up.
Yup, you wrote this for me, didn’t you? Well, even if you didn’t, let me think that for now, ok? 🙂 I love love love these pictures, and I loved reading all the things you guys love about spring and summer. It made me sit and think and agree with many of the ones you wrote. My favorite things about spring and summer are…opening all the windows, feeling a fragrant breeze, sandals and flip flops, swimming, hearing crickets, fireworks, growing vegetables, feeling LIGHT and HAPPY!! corn on the cob, going to the beach…just enjoying God’s wonderful creation. Thanks for this, my friend. Love you.
I love the freshness of spring. Summer is really not my favorite season ~
Oh, this is just what I needed!!!!! I have spring fevor so bad I feel like jumping out of my skin! (or run away to mexico! LOL) I love all the pictures and all the kids quotes! And yours too!!!
My favortie thing about spring and summer………the earth coming to life again with all the bright colors, the smell of fresh cut grass, afternoons at the park, swimming, my freakles that cover my face due to being sun kissed, homemade ice cream, watermelon, flip flops……oh my goodness! This list could go one for forever! I just love spring and summer!
me too! me too! I love the seasons, not that winter doesn’t show the handy work of God, but the rest of the seasons are so much more full of color and just a fresh fragrant vibrant atmosphere. I can’t wait!
You have a beautiful family! Gos bless you all.
Oooo! Pretty pictures! I love spring so I can play in my garden and plant tiny seeds and watch them grow into huge plants. Not too fond of summer except to see my kids play and my flowers bloom. Fall is my favorite, though, and winter is very close to spring for me…… I love snow and ice storms!! Just would like all the cold, snow, and ice to end right around February 14th!
Oh… THANK YOU!!!!
Flowers, planting and tending my garden, working outside… taking walksFresh breezes, warm sunshine, warm damp earthsitting outside on the front porch swing eating popcicles
did I mention flowers and green things?!
Great refreshing post! Had a hard day so I needed it! I love spring…the bulbs come up and the flowers are so pure and bright….sweet peas! my little vines are about 3-4 in. now so will soon be swarming up the fence. Our spring gets going here in So. CA. pretty soon. Birds singing, green hills with mustard yellow flowers all over….lupine and poppies. I love summer for the beach days, sunshine and fun times with friends. The smells are more intense and make me think of childhood. So glad little Weston is home! Jenny
Refreshing post! I’m ready for spring — tulips, daffodils, snowdrops, green grass, etc.
Flip flops, fresh air, garden cut flowers everyday, reading magazines and daydreaming on the pourch, Iced Coffee….ahhh how many more weeks???
You must have read my mind! How badly I needed a reminder of spring and you gave me so much to enjoy.
Feeling the sun on me, the warmth. Having quiet time out in the adirondack chair, instead of inside. The smell of fresh cut grass and the earth waking up. Going to the creek with the kids..I am saving Wuthering heights for the Spring! Spending the ENTIRE day at a park, exploring woods and lakes and so on. Walking walking walking. Telling the kids to GO OUTSIDE!!!! and then spying on them out the window watching them in the tree house and giving each other rides in the wagon. Letting the kids get filthy dirty and when I am washing them off feeling like they had a good day being children. Oh Shanda I could go on and on!!!!!!!!!!
What a great post! I love to open the doors & windows and feel the nice breeze. Watching the kids play outside & burn off all that energy, swimming and picnics with our family. Boy I can’t wait now!
I was just reading your post with the lipstick, oh my goodness! Did you get all the red out of everything? And the shirt from Costco is nice!! I love that place. My kids love the free samples to you can eat a cheap lunch there:)
This is the next day, I just had to stop by and look again. Now that I have a full blown case of spring fever, I needed the joy of the color blasting off my computer screen and the childrens adorable suggestions. Could not find narcissus so I got some cheery pots of primroses, some for at home and one for here at the office. I am smiling. Thanks for the joy you spread abroad. Hugs, with blessings and love, m in sc

It’s amazing how the colors uplift my soul. I love the rosebud with the water droplets on it. What do I love about spring and summer? The light, warm breezes, flowers, colors, blue skies my gaze could get lost in, the smell of fresh mowed grass, warm nights for star gazing, fragrant smells, crickets…
…and the singing of the birds…especially the waking up to the sound of robins and hearing them again in the evening.
– I like it HOT and dry! :))these pictures are so great – i love all the flowers… can’t wait till they’re in bloom again!
