Apart From Him, I Can Do Nothing

“As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.”  John 15:4

Cowardly, wayward, and weak,
I change with the changing sky,
Today so eager and strong,
Tomorrow not caring to try.
But He never gives in,
And we two shall win,

Jesus and I.

  1. Funny, I was just reading in John 15 today and thinking about the grapevines near our old neighborhood (in CA)…  And that quote – how marvelous!  Thanks for the nice comment.  I’m sorry you’ve been sick – I do hope you are feeling much better.

  2. ME TOO – I have been picking muscadine grapes here on the farm and thinking on that same Scripture. I was thinking about posting some of my grapevine pictures. This flower is beautiful – I love the soft light coming through the petals!

  3. So where I am today.  I go to bed with high hopes for the next day, and then the next day is worse than the one before.  My own slothliness is encroaching on me, and I really need Jesus’ help if I’m going to make it tomorrow.

  4. Beautiful and so true! I think without God in my life I would be Jello! I would just be all wobbly and ineffective for anything. RYC: I did read Pilgrim’s Progress years ago. What’s hard for me with the place we live is that there are no longer great bookstores where I can browse and find everything in English, and ordering things from the internet is more expensive than our budget allows. I look forward to the times we get to America and try to stock up on enough books then to last me a couple of years!
