I caught Caleb “helping” his daddy get ready for work this morning. The pictures reminded me of this poem that I read a while ago:
There are little eyes upon you,
And they are watching night and day;
There are little ears that quickly take
In every word you say;
There are little hands all eager to do
Everything you do,
And a little child who’s dreaming of
The day he’ll be like you.
You’re the little child’s idol,
You’re the wisest of the wise,
In his little mind about you,
No suspicions ever rise;
He believes in you devoutly,
Holds all you say and do;
He will say and do in your way when
He’s grown up to be like you.
There’s a wide eyed little child who
Believes you’re always right,
And his ears are always open and he
Watches day and night;
You are setting an example
Everyday in all you do
For the little child who’s waiting
To grow up to be like you.
Adorable ~
He is so cute!
How sweet! The poem is so true. Love the pics!
So true. I walk with a limp, and when my oldest daughter was little, she wanted to have a limp “Like mommy!”
Such true words in that poem. The adoration of a youngone for their daddy or mommy is such a precious time.
So sweet Shanda. I love that poem. 🙂
I’ve had that old “I’ll be a good example” song in my head and was going to blog about it. You beat me to it. :)What a sweet moment to capture.
Those are some big shoes to fill. I love watching my boys look up to their daddy. It’s so sweet.
These are adorable pictures and I love the poem. What an incredible reminder! Thank you for sharing that.
The entry below this one is priceless as well. Those pictures of you and your husband are incredible. Your son did a great job! What a precious song and gorgeous, romantic pictures of the two of you.
Blessings,
Jana
That’s a beautiful poem. (Definetly not written about teenagers )
that is so sweet….like your new profile pic, too!
Excellent poem. And so true.
Oh Shan! That was so awesome! I love that poem–which is so true! What a great model Rich is for his boys! Love you!
So true, thank you for the reminder.
Oh how I’ve enjoyed gleaning from all your beautiful photos here! ALL of them! What a precious, precious family.
I love the name, Clover Hill for your estate there! When we lived in the country, we had moved twice there, one home was named, Goldenhurst, the other was Windy Oaks. : )
The little posty that says Create in me a clean heart is wonderful, it’s a constant prayer. : ) Thank you for your sweet compliment and encouragement.
Wonderful poem, wonderful everything! Beautiful entries…. Love, ~Amelia
I agree—-Clover Hill is a wonderful name for your home. I have always wanted to name our home, ever since I first read Anne Of Green Gables. But I have never been able to come up with a unique name (one that no one else has used) that sounds charming :o). Clover Hill sounds charming :o) We have lots of blackberries; apple trees; moles ;o), natural charm (untrimmed bushes…..weeds along the fenceline……and we live on a hill. If anyone wants to send me their idea of a name for our home, please come on over! I’d love to hear it. One name I have loved is “Grey Haven”……our house is gray….but alas……that name belongs to the home of someone we know……….
I love the photos of your son in daddy’s shoes. Here’s an idea: I did this with my oldest son and just love the results. When I came home from the hospital after a C section with my oldest son, my mom was there to help. While I was napping, she propped up the brand new baby between my husband’s work boots and took a photo. It turned out so cute that I kept taking the same picture with the same boots over the years, untill he fit his dad’s boots. It makes a wonderful collage of photos and memories. It would be pretty cute to do that with your son and this pair of shoes :o)
And thanks for the poem. Do you know the author? I make almost every card that I send, and I’ve been having trouble with this year’s father’s day cards for my FIL, DH, 2 sons, and SIL. This poem will be perfect for it.
how precious
The whole “you are the wisest of the wise” can be a scary thing… How old is your little one? Mine is a little older than 2.5 now. It still amazes me how fast he’s growing! He still loves putting on the big shoes though. Great job on the layout of this post.
My “little one” is turning 13. I can tell you that he still looks up to his daddy (me). He wants to do the things I do, ride where I ride, talk like I talk, cut-up like I cut-up. It doen’t stop. It was the way I was with my father and now it is that way with him. I just pray that he sees enough of my heavenly Father in me to lead him in the right direction.
How sweet to walk in Daddys shoes. My boys love to do the same. I love the way Caleb is watching his Daddy so closely as he ties his shoe.
