This hymn has been running through my head all day so I thought I would sit down at the piano and play it for xanga.
(All the lyrics to this one are good but I’m only singing the first verse here.)
Jesus, I am resting, resting
In the joy of what thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
of Thy loving heart.
Thou has bid me gaze upon Thee,
And Thy beauty fills my soul,
For by Thy transforming power,
Thou hast made me whole.
~Jean S. Pigott, 1845-1882
“Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
This is so beautiful, Shanda! I love your voice. Thank you for singing and playing for us.
You have a great voice.
That was beautiful, and so are you. Brought tears to my eyes. Love you!
Very nice!
beautiful!!!!!
very sweet! it’s neat to hear you sing~ tonight after dinner shayne was outside w/ the kids and i walked through the living room and felt the piano calling me. 🙂 there’s just something about those old hymns that is so comforting. “i am finding out the greatness of thy loving heart…” so like that line. the idea that we’re always finding out more of His love, there is no end.
Love that song. I first learned it when I was in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in college.
Thank you. I was just about to put on the alphabet sounds song here on the computer for the little girls and thought I’d check my messages real quick. Yours caught my eye first and so I went no further than it! – to find such a wonderful message this morning to me from God. I love that song. I knew it as a child but had forgotten about it. You play and sing beautifully!!!Have a blessed day!
You sing so beautifully..thank you for that lovely hymn.
Beautiful! I needed that today!!!!
Lovely voice! And the lyrics were just what I needed today. Now they are stuck in my head…and I can’t think of anything better to get stuck in my head. Thank you!
You sound lovely Shanda!!! You couldn’t have known how that would minister, or to whom, but it did! Our foster son is being placed in another (non-Christian) foster home and it has been a very emotional time for us. We have simply prayed that if it is God’s will he should stay put then God will open and close doors accordingly. He leaves tomorrow morning…. Sometimes I don’t understand what or why, but rather I have to simply rest in Him, knowing that His plan is bigger and better than anything I could possible foresee.Thank you, sweet lady!!!
@Lori – Lori, I am sorry about the sadness of your foster son leaving. I want you to know that I am praying for you. God bless you.
@lynn – Hi Lynn! So glad you liked the song, glad you stopped by. Happy Friday to you! xoxo
You have the voice of an angel. 🙂 Thank you for sharing that. Such beautiful, encouraging words. What a nice way to start my day.
I love the words! I’m going to have to come back when I can get on my computer so I can hear you!
I so enjoyed hearing you sing and you have a lovely “touch” in your playing!
I love hearing your voice…and the voices of the children…it is hard to imagine what your voices sound like when you type the words that were said…beautiful song…
angelic, my friend. 🙂
