Found: One small and sturdy wooden stool. I found it today, and as it was sturdy and useful, I snatched it right up, at the local thrift shop. On the way to the car, I decided I would also paint it. Having never painted furniture before, I was pleased and excited to find such a nice “first” piece to work on. Seth and I drove to the Hardware store next, and in no time at all, chose the perfect shade: Benjamin Moore “poolside blue”.

I put on my apron, went outside to the picnic table, kept the newspaper down with rocks, and got to work.

Like most adventures, this painting project was not without mishap. I shook the lid right off the can. (my mistake, I didn’t put the lid on tight enough after the first coat)

But, the final results were truly satisfying.

We think it is very pretty.
And best of all, the littles won’t have to tip the trash can upside down in order to reach the bathroom sink anymore.

The stool is super cute. I love the color……but oh my golly………I WANT YOUR SHOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂
Good job! That last picture with those little feet and the crocheted lace is so sweet!
Wonderful color, the stool looks so cute, and useful too!! I’m sure little you could use that in the kitchen as well, though you probably do what I do and call a long armed guy. I think your apron is gorgeous too…much to pretty for paint! Did the picnic table wash off or is that next?
I’ve grown to like painting furniture! Painted two tables this week, a metal bed frame last week as well as a bench and window frame… Thrift store finds can be made to look brand new with a fresh coat of paint. I struggle with choosing a color though, but usually like what I decide on.Being short as I am, that little stool would be useful for me 😉
What a pretty color!
How handy that pretty blue stool will be. Love those little feet and the crocheted skirt!
pretty, pretty blue ~
Tipping over the trash can – how resourceful lol!!
adorable!!
Pretty color!!! Showed it to my daughter who mentioned to me she wants to get I to restoring old furniture. And Sarah is always so cutely dressed:)
hi shanda…….great job on the stool. and i can’t believe you’ve never painted furniture before!! on the other hand, i’ve stained and painted more furniture than i care to mention! is there still blue on the picnic table? if so, it will hopefully be a reminder of something special you made and put a little smile on your face each time you see it. even a little accident can bring back good memories, right?
pretty! great job! isn’t it fun to make your own little treasures?
Hi Shanda….Love your little stool…I have the exact same one to stand on in the kitchen to get to the top shelf…very useful…I have never thought of painting it though….You did a GREAT job …well done…now you will be painting everything….Thanks for your blogs…I LOVE THEM…..Bless you and your family…Brenda

@SpazzyMommy – Me too! I want her shoes too! What size do you think they are? I don’t think they would work for you Cass….I think she mentioned in a different post that she said she didn’t like them anymore and wanted to give them to me….. (as long as they are the right size. Otherwise yeah, you can just have them…)
I LOVE that color blue!! Good job! 🙂
