new kitties!

{this moment} – A Friday ritual. A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

Gracie has new kitties.

She loves them.

She named them, takes good care of them, protects them from her little siblings, and put green collars on them.

Her bed is always as messy as a busy person’s desktop at the office.  This picture is deceiving because I had helped her clean it off some.  Of books, pencils, the dsi, games, puzzles, and empty food dishes!  My girl.

I adore her.

That’s why this is more than just a picture of cute kittens.  For me, it’s a snapshot perfumed with the “right now” of my very precious 11 year old daughter, who is growing up right before my eyes.

Captured, to remember.

  1. This makes me smile. I am a Grace kind of girl, with an always messy bed and a love for all things kitties. πŸ™‚ Your description of her bed made me laugh, and I really like the terminology “a snapshot perfumed with the ‘right now’…” That’s beautiful.

  2. Hi Shanda. I stumbled across your xanga back when you had welcomed Miss Sarah into the world and have been reading consistently ever since. My name is Sarah. I am introducing myself now so that I don’t feel like such an eavesdropper. πŸ™‚ You very literally inspire me and encourage me every time you post. I am not very active in the xanga world, I keep to myself, but I just had to let you know that…well, I don’t know what I had to let you know. Just…thanks. I hope it’s okay that I visit here.

  3. @shesawakeatlast – Hi Sarah, yes, it’s absolutely okay!  Welcome, and thanks for introducing yourself!  Glad to know you’re there, please don’t feel like you have to comment here, you could also use the “message” option if you want to get in touch that way.  Either way is great.  Blessings to you!

  4. Sweet kitties for a sweet girl! Our Emma is also 11–budding womanhood is just moments away, and I so want to make sure to enjoy the time now. Know you do, too. They are still young enough to play and be children yet their yearnings and thoughts and questions make us know that this time is fleeting. Hope your Grace always loves to play with kitties.

  5. Loved all the vacation pictures! My little Cheyenne really noticed Sarah’s crocs because she has pink ones also~  πŸ™‚  Loved her dress also~ so CUTE!   πŸ™‚  Grace and her kittens~ nice~ somehow that and girls just go together ~ just like boys and puppies! My husbands brother and family live in Va. Beach~ Glad you had a nice time!
