dresses

What do you say, ladies?  Good find?  Grace and I stopped by our favorite treasure-shop (thrift store) and I struck gold with two vintage Polly Flinders dresses for Sarah-dear.  The one in the first picture also came with a ruffled bandana (in the same yellow fabric), to tie on her head like a sunbonnet!

I hope you all are having a restful, fun Saturday.  Drop me a line to say hello, if you have the time.

  1. adorable.. what a great find. πŸ™‚ she looks so pretty. hope you are enjoying your Saturday. We are just relaxing, I am trying to nurse myself back to health, not feeling too well. planning to take a nap soon. πŸ™‚

  2. Polly Flinders have always been a fave! When my oldest was little, we lived near a PF outlet. I bought her six dresses in the spring and six in the fall. Each sold for about $2.79-3.79. Some were a little more. I would go through the entire place, grabbing every one I liked, then had to narrow it down. They also had a big box of dresses that had maybe a little lace that was coming loose or a button missing…and those sold for $1.00-1.99. I would buy a couple of those in the smaller sizes, washed them, repaired the tiny issues with each and gave them as gifts for new babies. When we moved north…away from the outlet…I was “forced” to learn to smock, since I was so hooked on smocked dresses.:)

  3. Very sweet. Makes me wish my girls were little still (so I could dress them like that!) We’re getting ready for friends to come over for dinner and games! I’m making homemade refried beans for tostadas with all the fixings (cheese, chorizo, lime, pico de gallo, etc) and some cilantro rice. Yummy! We have some new board games to try out tonight. Should be a really fun evening πŸ™‚

  4. I remember as a little girl hearing my grandma and mom get all excited about cute Polly Flinders dresses. I still have one that I wore when I was 4. It looks very 70s! πŸ™‚ Have a wonderful weekend, Shanda. ~ Maria

  5. My Saturday is restful this evening – but it was a busy day. First there was breakfast for nine grandchildren who were here most of the week, then we prepared the yard and pavilion for a large reunion tomorrow lunch, and a Sunday school picnic in the evening. My favorite quote of the day was when Jesse woke up this morning and came into the living room where I was posting the Bible verse for the day. He said, “Grandma, it’s morning!” When he goes to bed at night, he can hardly wait to wake up and play with his cousins. πŸ™‚

  6. Love the dresses! I have a couple saved for Sarah (not Polly Flinders)that you gave to me for Sophie. I do hope to stop by the Ives bed and breakfast in the country again someday.

  7. My Mom had a Polly Flinders dress that my younger sisters wore. She then passed it on to me for my daughters.I loved it!I wonder what happened to it……….

  8. Way sweet are the dresses… We have had a great Saturday as two of our nieces are here visiting for the weekend. This morning Kyle made us homemade waffles and this afternoon we road-tripped to play miniature golf. Tonight we grilled out, swam and are now getting ready to play some games! I again thank you for the timely book review of ‘Families Where Grace Is In Place’…such a tremendous blessing! I have gleaned so much insight and wisdom from the truths/ideas/thoughts within.I pray that you have had a most wonderful day! :o) Thanks for always brightening mine with your posts!Mendiwww.simpleandsurrendered.blogspot.com

  9. OH I just LOVE them! I adore smocking! How sweet she looks. ❀ Have a blessed week. We are off on a much needed vacation this week…Camping up North Michigan. Will look forward to reading any new post when I am home.

  10. Those are so sweet! We enjoy thrift stores here, too. It is more out of necessity due to our small budget, but it is fun to be creative. I made a lovely little dress for my newest granddaughter from a pretty old tablecloth I found! You would never know. I must take a pic of it before I mail it to her. I also collect bits and bobs of leftover yarn. I sort them into color schemes and make rugs from them. I have made 16 small rugs so far, and am working on two more. I just scored some good yarn for the green rug! It takes a long time to get enough yarn. I need a lot because I make the rugs very thick. Blessings on your summer!

  11. A fabulous find! Sarah looks so darling in her dress. Hopefully I eventually have a granddaughter. Love all my boys, of course! Just hope for some girly dresses too
