spiritual freedom

The beauty of a life free in Christ has been on my mind lately.  Freedom in Christ….

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.  Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”  Galatians 5:1

Don’t let it happen to you!  Be free.

Don’t allow others to tie a heavy burden on to you.  You have already been set free in Christ, free to love.  To be thankful.  To have peace.

“You, my brothers, were called to be free.  But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature, rather, serve one another in love.  The entire law is summed up in a single command:  LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”   Galatians 5:13,14

“The acts of the sinful nature are obvious:  sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery, idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.  I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is

love,

joy,

peace,

patience,

kindness,

goodness,

faithfulness,

gentleness and

self-control.

AGAINST SUCH THINGS THERE IS NO LAW.” Galatians 19-25

And we are free in Christ, to do them.

Would you say a prayer for my Grandfather today?  He is recovering from emergency hip surgery.  Thank you!

  1. Great post!!  (I also like the song by Laura Story…Blessings!)   I have read just today about the great sacrifice Jesus made for us to be free.  Please pray that I would LIVE like I am free and forgiven.  I just feel lately like I have some kind of “block” getting in the way of fully embracing that great gift of freedom in Christ!

  2. great post! i heard a sermon on this yesterday on the radio by chuck swindoll and he made a neat point about our freedom being IN christ. how when our focus stays on Him we are freed up from the issues that often keep us from loving others as we should.. of course i’m not saying it as well as he did, but it was good. :)i like what jenny said above – “we come to understand by layers…” yes. amen. i often feel like a onion, with tears running down my face as God pulls back yet another layer inside me, so in need of Him! such pretty flowers. & hope your grandpa recovers quickly~

  3. I am so thankful for the freedom Christ won for us! Even though it has been years, I still remember the darkness He called me from. UGH! That was a pit I will never, ever be in again! I will certainly stop right now and pray for your grandfather! I have had five hip surgeries myself, so I know something about that! Blessings on your day! Happy 4th!
