going, going, gone

One year ago today I was making myself sick with anxious hope that my next baby (born after three beautiful boys in a row) would turn out to be a GIRL.  I had an ultrasound on January 13, 2010, but the doctor that day could only tell me that she thought maybe it was a girl but she didn’t know for sure.

Fast forward one year to the day and here I am with my six wonderful children and a beautiful baby girl who is seven months old.

The purpose of today’s post is to record a milestone for Sarah.

She’s crawling now.

It’s very strange for me to see her going away.

How I love it when she turns around and crawls back, smiling at me with her gummy grin.

My heart knows that like her big brother Seth, she will very soon crawl, no RUN, completely out of my sight and into mischief.

But that will be a story for another day.

Today she’s simply a beginning crawler…going so slowly, but steadily.  She sees what she wants, turns toward it, lifts an arm way up high and out and down and forward and there goes the other arm next, then the feet push and she’s going, going, gone.

  1. Adorable – I wish I could press ‘rewind’ and have my baby girls (ok they are 4 & 6 but STILL my babies) be that age again. I always SO enjoy your posts, and the music you have on your playlist (often I come to read your post and just leave my laptop open to listen to the music while I do things). I am eager to read a few of the books you highlighted yesterday. I love to read when there is time – it’s like slipping into another world for a short while I’d love to see a list of your ‘favorite’ books. I enjoy book suggestions! Have a wonderful and blessed day ~ Ashley

  2. Awww….she looks so cute!I like how you put the pictures in order. I like her little outfit too, that little mushroom dress is adorable. (You made that right?)Your floors look so pretty too. Happy 7 Month Birthday Sarah. Congratulations on your crawling like a big girl!!! =)

  3. @FourBlackSheep – So glad you like the songs.  They are all favorites of mine but I especially like “The Best Day”, “It’s Your Day”, and the “Heart and Soul” song b/c the kids and I  go wild on the piano making up our own versions of it.  🙂

  4. Once she can keep up with Seth, you will have lots of new material for your blog I am sure. Perhaps she will keep him out of trouble from time to time. Enjoy the snow. It is pouring buckets here with no end in sight. Did you notice Ross on his Blackberry on the beach? I thought of you when I looked at that picture later! I wouldn’t let the kids confiscate it, but I was tempted.

  5. She is just as cute as a little bug! The most wonderful thing in this old world is baby people and baby Christians growing and developing in a way that we can see that they are healthy!

  6. Where have the months gone???? Can this baby girl be big enough to crawl? I’m afraid there’s no stopping her now–once they get a taste of mobility, it’s all over….the easy part where you always know where they are and what they’re doing. BTW, your shiny, clean floors look wonderful!

  7. Pick me up off the floor please; this is so cute it knocked me over! (just kidding). She is a DOLL and I love her sweet sweater! “Crawling back” is something I wish my girl would do. She’s almost 19 and is wanting to move away, as in become independent and do her own thing, be her own boss, have her freedom. She is rapidly crawling aWAY. I know that’s life. I accept it. But I don’t have to like it!

  8. Oh, I love those first crawling movements.  Kinda like army style?  Isn’t it amazing how we (or at least I) pushed my first child to crawl and walk, but I couldn’t have cared less if the youngest were content to sit on a blanket and play.  They grow up SOOOoooo fast.

  9. Unsophisticated is adorable. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things. Phl 4:8We love you all.
