Sarah’s crib

Don’t worry, she likes it.

Up until now, Sarah has been spending each night in the livingroom, in the playpen.

This weekend, Rich and I finally got the old crib out of storage and put it up in her new room upstairs (the room that used to be the office).

Aunt Phyllis re-finished this crib for us years ago, when we were expecting Jacob.  It was his, then Ethan’s, Grace’s, and David’s.  Then, when I was pregnant with Caleb, some friends of ours were moving so they gave us a white crib for him.  Seth is sleeping in that one now.

I didn’t really think we would ever need this old crib again, boy am I glad we saved it!  All we had to do was buy a new crib mattress.

Sarah’s crib bedding is a set that I bought for Grace, 11 years ago.  I bought it at Kmart.  It is from the Martha Stewart baby collection.

I love the white, and the simple pink flowers.

Old crib, old bedding, new baby.

Wonderful delicious baby girl!  The doctor, my mom, and my sister all say if I start her on cereal maybe she will sleep all night and give up her middle of the night feeding.  Well, I don’t know what to think about that.  She’s probably my last baby and I don’t want to admit that she’s growing so fast.  She had a doctor’s appointment last week and was 13 lbs, 14 oz (50%) and 24 1/2 inches (75%).  She’s a big girl compared to her siblings at that age.  How can she be almost 5 months old already and wanting to eat cereal?

Sarah’s room is still half office.  We are trying to figure out what to do with the big desk, computer, printer, filing cabinet, and extra bookshelf.  The half that we have done is nice~ we set up a twin bed and I made it up in Shabby Chic bedding from Target. She has a white bookshelf with all the sweet little girl books we could find, and her silver piggy bank from our pastor’s wife.

When it’s completely done, I’ll post pictures.  We’re having so much fun arranging her room together as a family.

Big brother Seth is smitten with his sister.

When I was taking pictures, he was right by my side, munching on Ritz crackers.  He desperately wanted to get in the crib so I wiped the crumbs off and plopped him down.

“Do you love me?”, he asked, and she said, “of course I do! You’re great!”

“Let me give you a kiss”

“Let me smother you with kisses.”

That’s what Daddy does to Mommy, too.

And this is usually how we look after a big kiss.

It’s okay, Sarah.  You’ll have to get used to it.  There is lots of love here.

  1. That crib and bedding have served you well…I love the pix of them together,so sweet. My niece has 5 girls, her last is 4 months old and she is crawling and sitting up and rocking in the little chair already, her Mama can not process all this growing so fast….I am sure it is bittersweet.

  2. Such perfect light coming in from the window!  She is a doll!  Is the crib over where the table was?  Sorry I should know thi,s but is Seth in the guest room in a different crib?  He is not down with the “big boys” already is he?  Are you alarmed to find me on xanga? I really should be working I am so behind that I have to procastinate to feel better, how bad is that?  I miss coming over here and hope to “get back on” soon.   I am so happy that you saved Gee’s bedding, it is so dear and very shabby chic!  Maybe she will sleep through the night now that she is not as close to your room.  Were you suggesting that you will miss the midnight feedings because she is growing so fast? 🙂  I love how much you love your babies!

  3. She looks so fresh and sweet looking up from that white and pink bedding.  Seeing Seth loving on his baby sister is heart-warming.  You got some really special pictures of them.  Your home is full of love!

  4. She is growing so fast! Looks so sweet in the pink and white bed and outfit! I always loved their little faces peeking from the crib…so glad you caught these sweet memories. So nice to think she and Seth will have that special bond. I love them looking at each other too. My oldest were both in cribs at the same time. I pretend shopped for Sarah this week. I was in a gift shop and they had some super soft cute things…but crazy expensive so no babies I know will be getting gifts from there! It was fun to be thinking of you all. I think we will find out in a couple weeks about our new grandchild…boy or girl??!!

  5. I love that pink and white bedding, it reminds me of the sheets I had for my bed when I was a little girl – sheets that are now faded to plain white and are worn so thin they have holes in them, but my mom still can’t quite bring herself to throw away!Sarah’s getting so big, and I love seeing her and Seth together. So sweet!

  6. I have been a way from blogland but have missed your’s – I love your natural pictures of real life and your babies are adorable 🙂 love that first pic – Your fall is always something I look forward to viewing here. Christian just said, “WHERE is that!” We all think it’s heavenly!Blessings to you!

  7. The pics are so sweet, still can’t imagine how Seth got to be such a big boy…I am already seeing Anthony growing by the day,and missing the newborn phase even though he is somewhat still there ha ha. I am dreading the day we put him in his big crib.

  8. Your little “baby” Seth is such a big boy!  I love your new header, it’s just so perfect and shows each little personality well.  And Sarah…there are no words for those perfect pink cheeks and precious deep eyes.  P.S.  The schoolroom looks so fun!

  9. hi shanda…….too cute, too sweet, and too adorable!!  my oldest is a year younger than grace, and i, too, bought bedding and things from the martha stewart collection at kmart.  you have good taste!  i just loved setting up my nurseries.  have continued fun with sarah’s.

  10. Oh, my, that second-from-the-top picture of Sarah in her bed, all smiley, is the sweetest thing. And then, just at the bottom, there are those two little identical twins, albeit boy and girl and a year or so apart, in that bed together, and if that isn’t the sweetest thing! I love that you’re using Grace’s bedding for Sarah. That’s tradition. I love tradition. Tradition is better than new. And your mom is right: cereal works wonders for helping babies sleep through the night.

  11. Catching up on some past posts… LOVE the femininity of the white/pink crib bedding! so beautiful, perfect for a beautiful little girl! Also love your header picture… makes me want to go take pictures of my four kiddos in the leaves, but one isn’t home and today might have been the last warm day!! 🙂
