What a wonderful time of year. A friend of mine watched six of my children this morning. While they were away, I went for a long walk with baby Sarah. I love the sounds of fall in the woods; the buzzing of the insects, bird chatter, acorns and leaves dropping down from the trees, my own feet as they crunch dryly along. I close my eyes and smile. I breath deep. The smells are delicious; wild grapes, dry leaves, pine. The mornings are cool and the afternoons are bright and warm.

Time for apples, dark red sweaters, cuddling up in handmade blankets, and sipping hot coffee and tea.

May this autumn season be a blessing to each and every one of you.

  1. Our fall is pretty well advanced- my trees have lost most of their leaves already.  I do love this season, I love grasping each beautiful moment before the snow.  I love baking with apples and cranberries and pumpkin!  Your friend is a sweetie- so glad you were able to have some time with just you and Sarah.  Love ya!

  2. SERIOUSLY…..every one of your journal entries is it’s own little “creative memories” scrapbook!!! I hope you are saving all these entries for your children to read when they are older!!!Happy Fall!!!(o:

  3. since the weather here doesn’t feel one bit like fall, I guess I’ll just have to enjoy it through your pictures 🙂 You get fall first and I get to see spring first 🙂

  4. Hi Shanda,I sent you a “message”, but I’m not sure how Xanga works, so I’m not sure if you got it! My name is Abby and I live in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA. A new friend of mine from church named Amanda, sent me a link to your blog. I’m sorry I cannot remember her last name! She is a very sweet young lady, she has a almost 2 year old son, and we go to Harbins church together. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I don’t read a lot of blogs, but I fell in love with yours immediately! I think it is your love for your family, your children, and your transparency that were so drawing for me. When I first started reading you had just had your daughter. That was so neat for me to read. I have four sons and we are expecting again but I am only 10 weeks so I don’t know what we are having yet. I think about how neat it would be to have a daughter! Although, I’m totally smitten by my boys, that I would absolutely adore another little boy! Well, I need to get back to my homeschool planning (we are studying the Middle Ages this year and I just love all the knights, chivalry and castles!!!!). I have a blog if your interested, http://www.oldfashiongirl.blogspot.com.Love,Abby

  5. I can “smell” your fall.We got dark clouds this afternoon and rain, so I bought a Mulled Cider candle, while shopping at Wal-Mart, to celebrate the new season! I turned my a/c down when I got home and wore one of my fall sweaters! I’ve had fun buying new skirts and sweaters – lost all that weight last year, ya know ;)!Glad you got some alone time with your sweet girl.P.S. Prayed for you and also Rich (and all he’s going through) while driving around town this afternoon.

  6. What an adorable photo of Seth! I’m really enjoying all your beautiful autumn photos! I think it is high time I shared the news with you. We are expecting #2! I should be about 6 or 7 weeks along now. Will keep you posted. 🙂

  7. cute picture. I am so happy Fall is here, although you are feeling it more than we are. It is finally cooler today with a high of only 77! I am doing the happy dance. 🙂 I am excited. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

  8. I love fall, too! I’ve been thinking about you! I’m sure you’re running around like crazy, but if we could find one day where our schedules met, maybe you could come up here for a fall day. Kids could play outside. You will give me your baby and in exchange I will give you a cup of hot coffee or tea. :o)
