Dost thou think, O Christian, that thou canst
measure the love of Christ?

Think of what His love has brought thee—
justification,
adoption,
sanctification,
eternal life!

The riches of His goodness are unsearchable;
thou shalt never be able to tell them out or even conceive them.

O the breadth of the love of Christ!
Shall such a love have half our hearts?
Shall it have a cold love in return?

Shall Jesus’ marvellous lovingkindness and tender care
meet with but faint response and tardy acknowledgment?

O my soul, tune thy harp to a glad song of thanksgiving!

Go about thy day rejoicing, for thou art no desolate wanderer,
but a beloved child, watched over, cared for, supplied, and defended by God.

~Charles H. Spurgeon

“Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.”  Jude 21

  1. I just read in Daniel 4, the passage about King Nebuchadnezzar, where God takes away his kingdom until he turns to God and admits that he is only allowed to rule with God’s permission.  You know the part where he is made to live with the wild beasts and eat the grass of the field. Then I continued into the next passage and it was Nebuchadnezzar’s son Belshazzar with the hand writing on the wall because he was not respecting the items from the Jewish temple…and God took his life that night.
I think sometimes we dare to think that God is not in control.  I know I have at times.  But He reminds us in these passages that He is in control of even the most powerful rulers.  That means in this election season that he is still in control (of course we should vote, because we are all His tools).  But no matter who wins – it is because God wants them to at this moment in time.  Just like the Babylonian Kings who were used to teach the Jewish people to turn back to God.
I think I’m way off your topic – but I wanted to share what God showed me this morning.  He is in control and we should all turn to Him, at all times.

  2. Yellow day!  My babes had me up before the sun this morning.  We snuggled until I HAD to get up.  Psalm 90:14 has been resonating for me lately.  You’d like it as well.  I’m thankful for the steadfast love of the Lord.  He fills us up to the fullness of Christ.  That’s a mind-blower right there!

  3. Shanda~ Am I so selfish to think this post was for me?!  🙂 Just what I need to start a new day as a child of God who needs to be reminded that I am not a desolate wanderer, but watched over. Those few words are food for my soul today.  Happy day to you and your family~ amy

  4. GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS!!!!!!!! And SO encouraging! I shall go through my day tomorrow, rejoicing, knowing that I am loved and that I CAN love. Thank you!!!

  5. Is this a repost?  Looks like I already commented- a couple years ago.  Anyway, great to read then and now.  I really don’t know WHY God loves me, but I am so thankful that he DOES!  Been thinking of and praying for you and wee Sarah.  Love you!

  6. so lovely Shanda. I have prayed for you. Hope you are all doing better. I have a cold now, and feeling so heavy with it today, this lifted me to the Father. (above comment was Bob …we all love your posts!)
