Late yesterday afternoon I got to sit down and do one of the things I’ve been wanting to do, make Sarah a head band! I bought her a couple at gymboree but they were way too big so I decided to try making her one. It didn’t take long and I was so excited that I woke her up out of her nap to try it on and take a few pictures.
This picture makes me laugh because of Caleb….this is my life…..he wanted a popsicle. I am constantly doing one thing while doing another thing, while thinking of the next thing, getting confused, while laughing or groaning……
Back to the topic…isn’t the head band pretty? I took a piece of elastic and measured it around Sarah’s head, used my sewing machine to make a fabric tube, inserted the elastic, sewed it together, and added an embellishment (a fabric yo-yo and a button).
She was not too thrilled about waking up to be handled this way and that.
So I let her go back to sleep.
I just took these pictures about an hour ago.
As you can see, she has found her little hands and likes to taste them.
She can also lift her feet way up high. We think it’s the cutest thing.
I plan on making her another one later on today…one that isn’t quite so wide, made out of the leftover mushroom dress material. This could get addicting!

I think it is adorable. You did a great job. Ahhh, sewing…someday I will return to it! I have got to find some cute fabric for boys.
yay I’m first to comment today! How precious she is…she looks worried:) Shanda Shanda how do you do it? I only have 2 more children than you and am constantly in survival mode. I wish so much to get out of that and add a little more “color” to my life.I’m amazed at the wonderful “little details” in life that you seem to be able to do. I know you dislike to…..but wish you would share!
too cute! That second pic, her expression is so hilarious!
that 2ndshot makes me laugh – somedays i feel that way bout doing my hair too!she’s a cutie pop for sure.and what a talented mommy she has.xo
hi shanda………too cute! i’m so glad you take the time to do the little things for your family, which of course end up being big in rewards for all of you. what an encouragement you are to others. enjoy your day!
How cute! So funny that you got her up to try it on. She looks much happier about it later on Love the feet in the air and the cute little smile. My DIL and I went to the fabric store yesterday to buy a project so I could teach her to sew on Nana’s machine, which she will take home with her to Colorado, and she said, “this could be addicting”. Especially when we looked at cute baby projects! She has done some straight sewing on a quilt when she was a teen, but that is it. I encouraged her that she could finish that quilt, just like you finished yours. I will have to get the pictures up when we finish the apron she is making…it has cherries on it!
Oh so cute! She looks great in pink! I too love the feet up in the air shot too{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}Look forward to seeing her in more headbands you make!
it is very cute, but she looks pretty aggistated in the first few photos! Like, Mom why did you wake me up for this?! The last few are just adorable though π
i LOVE that you call it a ‘Hair Pretty”!that’s what my family calls themit caught up with my brother in middle school…he has 3 sisters and no brothers–no shortage of the use of the words “hair pretty”he was in gym class in middle school when he found a girl’s scrunchie on the floor…he went up to the gym teacher and said, “someone lost their hair pretty.” the gym teacher was like, “they lost a what?” my brother then mumbled under his breath “hair pretty”sorry that we have corrupted him…he does love his sisters…
that’s beautiful Shanda. i love the little details you added. very nice…and what a cutie sucking on her hands and kicking her feet up. you are blessed.
She is sooo beautiful Shanda! Those headbands are adorable too. You make such cute little things for your children. It is fun to dress up and shop for girl things isn’t it!
With 5 boys and it being so hard to find a good selection of boy clothes I have often thought of opening an ALL BOY store with NO girl items anywhere. For all those Mama’s who only have boys. But with 4 girls in our midst as well we might need to at least put in a girls bathroom hee hee
Love your pictures of sweetie-pie. Seems like Seth was just as this stage.

So cute!! I love your music too…
Great job, Shan! It is so cute on Sarah, and I especially like the yo-yo. It feels so good to make something, doesn’t it? Sarah’s patchwork dress is sweet.
you did a great job… wow. she looks so pretty
I love Sarah’s chubby little cheeks!! Good job on the headbands!!
what a very fun age this is. ah, I shall miss it. But wow, it is just as wonderful as I reach out to these kids that are growing up and being new ages we’ve never been before – new adventures, new hairdos too:) and asking God for continued creativity and energy each day to love them all uniquely. Sarah is cute in her pink hair band π
I love seeing just how much you love your children. Those photos are wonderful and Sarah is a beauty. She sure is growing up fast!
good job! love the hairband. her expression in the second picture made me smile, that “not sure if I should laugh or cry” look….=)
I keep thinking that she looks so so much like an ______________ (insert your last name here) I could pick her out in a line up! How in the world did you find time to make that? It came out so well, and is better than store bought! The outfit looks so soft I just want to reach through and snuggle her!
