“All I could see were boys in motion, a cloud of dust, and big smiles.” ~ Bob Schultz
“God could have made man out of anything, but for some reason He picked dust. ‘God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.’ (Genesis 2:7). The only difference between a man and the dust is the breath of God. The man who sees himself on the same level as dirt, were it not for the breath of God, has a healthy opinion of himself.” ~ Bob Schultz
“In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.” Genesis 3:19

i love these insights and books that you have. such beautiful pictures of boys being boys. hope you are being blessed by all your little ones being around more 😉 have a beautiful rest of the week Shanda
Those are very powerful quotes- definitely something to reflect on. I really like your blog, and your pictures are adorable.
I am amazed at how big Seth is! Wonderful quotes. I will be looking into that book.
Little Caleb is not so little anymore:) I can remember when he was Seth’s size. Those pictures are so cute! I love how the camera captures the dirt flying around. Looks like they had fun together.
Time for a hose-washing! LOL! Great pics ~
What fun! I notice Grace is not involved 🙂
Such cute pictures. We enjoy all of Bob Schulz’s books. We were at the homeschool conference a couple of years ago talking with his wife when all of a sudden we saw paramedics run through, and then she ran out. It was sad, he died two days later. =( Even though he wrote the books for young men, I get a lot out of his writings too! Have a happy day! =)
We totally had 1 of those days yesterday!! My son LOVES the dirt!! My daughter ended up with a shirt full of it as well!! 😉
These are great pictures of the boys! I too thought how big Caleb is now. They look so happy playing in the dirt. Glad to see it really. If they are not afraid to get dirty playing, then it is good for work too. I did think of the hose as well for a pre-wash…or do you use the pond?We like those books too. In fact that one is sitting on the coffee table right now. David bought them for himself!
Great pics of your boys being boys, Shanda! Although, my girls get pretty dirty too. 🙂 I enjoyed the quotes- thanks for sharing.
I thought how did Caleb get so big??? Then i browsed through the comments and realized I was not the only one thinking this! He looks so different..BIGGER. I love it you don’t mind the dirt, I have got over the neatness thing and now I think it’s best just to let them have fun with being messy! I keep the hose near the door..lol.
What an awesome moment you captured – the ESSENCE OF BOYHOOD!
Boys will be boys!! This post made me smile. (so glad they were your children…not mine…LOL)Loved the quotes about the only difference between dust and man is the breath of God…LOVE IT.
I have had this book sitting on my bookshelf for ages. Should I take it with me?Great pictures of the boys.
I love seeing your pictures. You are gifted in being able to capture much more than just a snapshot. Your photos say so muchThey remind of me of Norman Rockwell paintings. 🙂 Thanks for warming my heart today.
It’s great that you are able to let your boys be boys! Those pictures speak a thousand words…happiness, at the top of the list!
hi shanda…….awesome photos as usual! how fun that you captured that. and i’m definitely getting some of bob schultz’s books on amazon next time i order. thanks for sharing.
You totally convict me… I would never let my kids have that much fun… and all because I am too lazy to clean them up!! (that and I only have ONE boy and three girls)you should totally join The Mob Society… http://www.themobsociety.com/ You have soo much you could offer them in wisdom and experience!
You sneaked one by me again! How could I ever have missed this! Do your chickens give themselves dust baths? Because this certainly reminds me of our old hens out in the yard, flinging dust everywhere. God knew what He was doing when he made boys washable, didn’t He? Sure would be sad if we were “dry clean only”. Thanks for the smiles today, Shanda. They really bless my heart.
awwww look at those smiles, they are having such fun!! I love it! 🙂
Your children have the most fun. Did they get sand in their eyes? What is it about little ones, they are so attracted to dirt and water.
