all in a minute

Ahhhh, the simple pleasures of just a moment of time….like watching your little one eat a cupcake.

He even said, “hmmmmmmmmm” just like Mama does when she eats a treat.

All done!  He ate just the top and left the rest for someone else to eat.

We loved watching Sethie with his special cupcake…everyone else had one (or more), too.  They were a big hit~ a simple cake mix cake, decorated with whipped cream from a can, and a fresh strawberry on top.

I read this quote just this morning, and thought I would share.  It’s from the book Belles on Their Toes, the sequal to Cheaper by the Dozen.  (wonderful books about a large, happy family with 12 children)

“Mother has a way of making each child know he means something very special to her.  Not just as one of the group, but as an individual person who has his own special claim on her heart.”

  1. And what a pleasure for us on Xanga to watch as well. Your little Sethie reminded me of our little Dorie on Sunday. I sat beside her at the dinner table and was watching her eat her salad. She took great care in using her salad fork to get just the dressing on and not the lettus. She ate all the dressing off with such delight, little nibble by little nibble.

  2. Seth is adorable with that cupcake! =)I love Cheaper by the Dozen! I especially enjoyed the bit where the father was teaching them how to bathe quickly and efficiently. lol I laugh so much through that book. I never knew it had a sequel. I’ll have to check it out. =)

  3. Thanks for the book recommendations! Always looking for something new to read. You are one of my main sources for new titles!!! Cute pictures. He was definitely savoring “the minute” (errrr, aaaa, “the moment”)!!!

  4. He is so cute, I am glad you shared all those photos showing the cupcake tip and his cute face. YUM. I did not know about “Belles on Their Toes”! I will have to get on the library site and see if I can check it out. I liked “Cheaper by the Dozen”. We have the book, and enjoyed the movie’s good humor. My MIL grew up in the same town as that family. Her brother (who was 10 years older) went to school with some of the children.

  5. Ahhhhh.  He DID pick the best part to eat :).  I have one box of strawberries (they are local, but a bit pricey so I only bought one).  I just might make cupcakes to serve with them…to stretch them a bit!!  I heard someone’s reply to the question “Which one [child] do you love the best?”   They answer:  the one that needs me most at that minute, you know, the one that is sick, hurting, disappointed, etc.  I loved that answer!!  I love all my children, and I want all of them to feel like they are special to me!!Love the way you love each one!!

  6. He’s so cute eating his cupcake!  Never read the books, but my mom has passed down the love for the old versions of the two movies onto her children and grandchildren. (Cheaper by the Dozen, and Belles on Their Toes)  I wasn’t too happy with the new remakes.  Happy Tuesday to you. =)

  7. Yum!  That looks so good right now.. A cupcake with my cup of coffee. šŸ™‚  Seth sure enjoyed that treat. It really is the simple things in life that warm the heart. God bless your day today.

  8. A special treat on a fiesta plate…I love the look on his face, he’s such a cutie.  What a great quote.  I always feel so refreshed after I visit your blog.  Have a good day!

  9. Cute!I am doing these cuppycakes when the littles come to celebrate Pop’s 60th this next week!I know they would love them.Thank for the reminder that something so simple can look so yummy and bring many smiles to the littles in our lives.Hard to believe that your little Seth is about to be unseated from his baby spot in the family. Our almost 2yo Anavah is adjusting to Talyah’s arrival…but we have to keep a watch on 3yo Zekey. He seems intrigued with the baby’s eyes.:PTheir mama has her hands full…You must hear that often…I know you would not want your hands any other way but full.Have a wonderful day, Shanda. Rejoice in His goodness.Off I go to a haircut!xo

  10. What cute pictures – you captured the moment perfectly! Seth is enjoying every moment eating that cupcake, and even says, MMmmm. That’s so cute! I love that quote. A wonderful way to describe motherhood. Take care!
