a song of chickens. in a tree.

Hello friends,

What a glorious spring day we are expecting to have today!  My energy level has increased dramatically, all because of the sun and the weather forecast.  I am looking forward to a nice morning of schooling with the children, and then spending the rest of the day cleaning, airing the house, and playing outside.

I’m sitting here, chuckling to myself because of this blog post.  Last week, the children came rushing into the house asking for my camera.  When they came back, there were several wonderful pictures for me to see.  We had never seen this sight before…..Our Chickens In A Tree.

If that’s not amusing enough………

I grew up watching Sesame Street and when I saw the pictures I immediately remembered a song that I had heard and enjoyed as a child.  Do any of you remember it?  I found it on Youtube (what an amazing place youtube-land is!) and figured out how to include the video here, so you (and our children) can listen, too.

Grab your nearest baby/friend/loved one/stuffed animal and enjoy the song!  I have Caleb and Seth here with me, and I’m about to play the video for them (Several times, no doubt.)

Hugs and Love, and thoughts of springtime to each one of you~

Shanda

  1. It’s sunny here today too for the first time in a long time! =)  Those chickens look so funny!  Thanks for sharing the video with us, I’m sure my kids will enjoy it!  Have a lovely day.

  2. I remember that song…too funny about the chickens.  I know I am so glad to see the sun also.  It really motivates me to start cleaning up those areas that have been collecting things that I will take care of “later.”  Enjoy your day!

  3. your chickens always give me a good laugh. my favourite still is when they decided the recycling box was a good place to hide πŸ˜‰ i remember when Joanna visited your home on one of her trips last year and she was recounting a story of a chicken who was fascinated with her and tried to follow her into your house πŸ˜‰ thank you for sharing these beautiful moments and the fun son. have a great day Shanda.

  4. That song was (and still is) a perennial favourite around our house, even though we never had chickens! In fact, as soon as I saw your first picture I started singing it, and then I laughed so hard when I saw the Youtube video! There is nothing like sunshine in March, the first bit of spring after the long winter (or sunshine in April, if the winter has been really, really long). Enjoy your day!

  5. That song was perfect. I laughed when I saw the chickens and said, “silly girls”. Have a wonderful spring day!! We are having a heat wave, concerned it will dry up our nice spring grasses!!

  6. i called the kids over and we all watched. i can now hear emma in the kitchen singing, “dare are tickins in the trees, dare are tickins in the trees…” thanks for the smiles.

  7. I don’t remember that episode.  What a funny song :).  Guess that “professional chicken” needs to come to your house to see the chickens in the tree…Hee HEe.

  8. ok.. this is now the most requested little video clip in the house now… my kids always want to hear this and see your chickens in the tree! πŸ˜‰ In fact last week we were singing that catchy little song and adding our own words too… and even Daddy got sucked into it and began singing this silly little song with us! FunnY!

  9. Yes, YES, I watched some Sesame Street as a kid and I remember this song! Lee and I sat here and listened to this over and over – thanks so much for sharing it! So much fun!
