peaceful Sunday

The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:  the Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:  The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.  Numbers 6:24-26

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep:  for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.  Psalms 4:8

The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.  Psalms 29:11

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee:  because he trusteth in thee.  Isaiah 26:3

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.  Jeremiah 29:11

….and have peace one with another.  Mark 9:50

Finally, bretheren, farewell.  Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.  11 Corinthians 13:11

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.  Romans 5:1 (this verse means a lot to me, I’ve been studying justification lately, what an amazing gift that is!  We believers have peace with God through Jesus!!  There is no need to fear condemnation any longer!)

Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.  Romans 14:19

But the fruit of the Spirit…is peace…  Galatians 5:22

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:7

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.  Colossians 3:15

Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means.  The Lord be with you all.  11 Thessalonians 3:16

And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.  James 3:18

A blessed and peaceful Sunday to you all!  Half of my children are sick with colds, (including baby Seth, with his first cold *he hates it when mama pinches his nose*) , we are home from church today.

We woke up this morning to a hard frost, and Seth woke up with cold little hands.  It was a content feeling, to get him from his crib, and take him back to bed with me to warm him up.  He fell asleep in my arms and I looked at him, admiring his baby face, sleeping so peacefully.  The pictures here on my blog today are from this summer.  Watching my children sleep is one of my favorite parts of motherhood.

The trees are still beautiful today in New England, and now that the sun is up and the sky is clear, it is a beautiful view from my windows.

My beloved friend, Joanna, is traveling to visit me today and is staying until Tuesday, so I look forward to getting outside with her later on, to enjoy God’s handiwork.

In the meantime, I better go work on my ham dinner.

Much love and peace to you all…..Shanda

  1. Dear Shanda……What beautiful pictures of your son peacefully sleeping. I always loved to stand and watch my babies sleep when they were growing up too. I’m back on Xanga after a long absence…..life….LOL!Have a wonderful day there Shanda!

  2. I hope they all feel better soon, and I also hope that you or your husband don’t get it too. The last picture is the so sweet. I really enjoyed the verses too. God blessKelly

  3. One of the central messages of the New Testament *IS* “peace”!!!Sorry about the colds – that’s no fun! I bet your area is just gorgeous, right now – so beautiful!I have a ham in my freezer – you’ve given me an idea for dinner later this week!

  4. Oh, not much is more peaceful than a sleeping child.  How rewarding after a long and trying day to glance in their rooms and see that quiet countenance and sigh:).  Hope the colds pass quickly.  Seems like the flu has hit our area (muscle aches and general ickiness) hope that is moves on.  We have been spared thus far.

  5. I miss the days when Jonathan would actually fall asleep while I held him! Oh well, soon I’ll have baby Lydia and that’s all she’ll do!Hope the rest of your family is spared and the sick ones get well soon!

  6. I love the peace and beauty of children sleeping. Hope everyone gets well quickly. Sounds like a good cuddly Sunday of rest. We are roasting a turkey breast, and it was actually cool enough for long sleeves and a light jacket (Fall here in California!) Have a wonderful time with JO! Wish I could drive to be with you!(David said we should when we were in Colorado since we were “almost half way there”)

  7. Can your pictures of Seth get any cuter? Oh my goodness he’s adorable! My husband has dubbed you the “chicken coop lady” He said your chicken coop is nicer than our house hee hee
It’s cold here too. In the low 30’s and snow falling every so gently. Due for some more tomorrow. The kids love it! Here come the snowmen~
Love the verses~ Thanks for sharing~ Cinnamon

  8. I just wanted you to know that I missed you guys today, Matt and I were sick with yucky colds this week, but the kids thankfully didn’t get it.  I do hope yours are feeling better soon, and that you enjoy your time with Joanna.  Talk to you soon, love you!

  9. I hope you all feel better soon and I am so glad that Joanna is coming to see you.  You two together with camera’s would be awesome, because you are both so creative and you encourage eachother in it.  I hope you have a great time with her, Shan!  Love you, Lish

  10. Oh, I love that first picture!!! I literally gasped when it opened up. Sooooo cute! Thank you for sharing those verses. May God heal your little ones, and you protect you from getting sick, too!PS I agree. I love watching the children sleep. It’s so precious! I am overwhelmed with the gift of them!

  11. Have a wonderful time with Joanna, full of refreshment and joy for both of you! Such beautiful pictures of Seth sleeping. I’ve taken lately, now that the weather has gotten cooler, to creeping into Joy’s room right before I go to bed to tuck her back in, since she has a tendency to throw all the covers off and then wake up FREEZING. Most nights I just stand there marveling at her for a few minutes after tucking her in. When Baby Gracie sleeps, of course, I just plain marvel (very, very quietly)!
