This picture was taken in Plymouth, MA.  I am standing, with my young children, in front of the Pilgrim Mother statue.  I love the Lord with all my heart and gazing at this statue of a MOTHER made my spirit soar and pray to God for the strength and wisdom to honor him as I raise my precious children, these gifts from God to me.

This inspiring quote was on it:  “They brought up their families in sturdy virtue and a living faith in God without which nations perish”

I’ve thought about this quote so much that it actually comes to my mind quite often now.  Can you believe these words are engraved on a public monument in our nation?  “A LIVING FAITH IN GOD, WITHOUT WHICH NATIONS PERISH”  (!)

Motherhood is IMPORTANT and HONORABLE and OF GOD!  Think about that today, while you’re folding all those clothes, smiling, & passing out hugs, back scratches, and popcycles!

Much love to you all~ Shanda

Grace looks so stylish in the boots.I of course love the quote, it made me think of The Duties of Darents by Ryle and also The Wisdom of Fenelon:”We must, however, without pressing children too much, sweetly convert the first dawn of their reason to the knowledge of God; and gently insinuate into their tender minds a firm conviction of the truths of the Scriptures” –fenelonI hope you are hvaing a beautiful day!!

  5. WOW! That is an incredible statement, and totally true! Isn’t there also some saying about, “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.”? Godly mothers are so important! We have a great deal of influence in determining the course of our children’s lives, and even the course of our nation! Motherhood is a high calling! I applaud all women who see this calling the way it is mentioned on that stone! Blessings on your laundry folding, nose wiping, refereeing, teaching, loving and negotiating. May HIS strength be your strength. May HIS wisdom be your guide. HUGS!
