Happy Friday!

A real life picture of what my livingroom looked like this morning.  Caleb had all the couch cushions off so he could jump on them.  Jacob thought Seth looked really cute in his outfit so he wanted to take a picture….my hair was still wet from my shower….

The maids came this morning and scrubbed and cleaned every room in the house and it looks and smells so clean.  What a blessing!

It’s supposed to get up to 70 today and all the windows are open.

The children are running in and out.  Ethan is busy drawing a mushroom that he found outside.  David is busy practicing with his new yo-yo that he was given as school today.  I can hear Caleb and Jacob talking and laughing outside on the trampoline.  Grace is playing with the dog.  Seth is napping.

In my spiritual life, I have been reading and thinking a lot about Motherhood.  Here are some of my favorite verses:

“Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in the time to come.  She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.  She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.  Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.  Many daughers have done virtuously, but thou exceedeth them all.  Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman who feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.”  Proverbs 31:25-30

(a picture of my afternoon quiet/naptime with Seth)

“Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for such is the Kingdom of heaven.”  Matthew 19:14

(I loved how he was sleeping on his little paw)

“Lo, children are a heritage of the Lord; and the fruit of the womb is His reward.”  Psalm 127:3

(He was showing Mama his cute foot)

“And she (Hannah) said, ‘Oh my lord!  As your soul lives, my lord (Eli), I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to the Lord.  For this child I prayed, and the Lord granted me my petition which I asked of Him.  Therefore I have lent him to the Lord; as long as he lives he shall be lent to the Lord.”  1 Samuel 1:26-28

“Let your father and mother be glad, and let her who bore you rejoice.”  Proverbs 23:25

(I took these picture of Seth last night, with his Papa~)

“Whatever parents may do for their children, they should at least make their childhood sunny and tender.  A happy childhood stores away sunshine in the chambers of the heart which brightens the life to its close.”

“To the little child, home is his world—he knows no other.  The father’s love, the mother’s smile, the sister’s embrace, the brother’s welcome, throw about his home a heavenly halo and make it as attractive to him as the home of angels.  Childhood has its sorrows and its grievances, but home is the place where these are soothed and banished by the sweet lullaby of a fond mother’s voice.”

~ Thomas Guthrie

I hope you all have a nice weekend~ Do drop me a line to say hello!

  1. He is so so cute!  I really enjoyed the ones of him sleeping, it made me sleepy!  I laughed out loud over his cuteness in the green onsie up above the ones with Rich..so precious!

  2. He’s growing and changing so much!  He certainly fits right in with the rest of your children.  There’s no mistaking the similiarities.  I took a moment to imagine what it would feel like to have someone come and clean my home then leave with all the clean and fresh smell left behind.  I’m sure it’s been nice for you to have that.  Enjoy the rest of your Friday!!

  3. time is running so fast. now the baby boy is such this big. he looks really lovely. i like the one which he is sleeping on his little paws , his sweet face =)  i like it

  4. Sweet pictures.  Glad to know my kids aren’t the only ones who jump on the couch cushions (although it really irritates me!).  Our day is a bit overcast…and I’m afraid I’ve been eating the bread of idleness today…I think I only slept 4-5 hours (broken sleep at that!).  It was a weird night, and now that it’s cloudy, I don’t want to do anything!  πŸ™‚

  5. I love reading your blog.  I enjoy how you share your real feelings but even on your bad days are looking for God for help and wisdom and on your good days giving Him all the glory!  Keep on blogging so I can keep reading. God has used your words and additudes to help me on my own journey.  God bless!

  6. what beautiful feet…such a lovely family you have…your kids have such genuine respect and love for each other…I am that way with my siblings…although I do wish we all were closer…

  7. Your family is just so adorable.  I like reading how much your children enjoy the outdoors – too many children today don’t appreciate the outdoors as they are too consumed inside with video games or TV shows.

  8. I loved all the verses and quotes–thanks for sharing.  Seth is such a sweetie, I love the picture of him taking his nap.
Enjoy your Friday–have a great weekend.
Yay for warm weather and sunshine

  9. What a nice post to read after a long day at work. It’s so cozy to come here and read your blog. I love the pictures of Rich and Seth. How blessed you are to have a husband who loves his children so much! The picture of Caleb kissing Seth is absolutely precious!

  10. You and Seth look so cute together! Love the ones of him sleeping…they just seem to be so real…like I am there. It is so good when they are asleep, yet you just want to pick them up and kiss them they look soooo cute! So sweet to see that smile for his Papa. Blessings to you, I have been thinking of you, and when I do I pray for you too! Jenny

  11. As always a great post! Love the pics,so precious. When I read the last paragraph my heart ached for all the little ones who don’t have a “safe world”,whose home is full of turmoil and sadness……..My heart is blessed when I read posts like yours! Keep up the good work as a Mother,it’s the greatest job in the world!!

  12. Ohhh, these made me miss having babies in our home. You captured the best baby moments…sleeping in daddy and mommy’s bed, that little foot in the air that he can’t control just yet, and staring with those sparkly eyes at his daddy with that grin on his face. What a little love! Thank you for taking the time to post all those sayings with the pictures. It added to the sweetness! What an honor and privilege it is to be called, “mom.” (now, if only I could remember that every second. :o)

  13. Great post Shanda!  The verse you mentioned from 1 Samuel is a verse that became my mantra as a young woman. I was blessed with just one child and he is now about to graduate from Seminary.  The Lord heard my prayer and He deserves all the praise.  Question though for you or anyone…how does a Christian woman respond to the verse from Psalm 127 (Children are a heritage…the fruit of the womb is a reward) when they are struggling with fertility?  I’m curious..personally, I had a REALLY hard time with that verse during that time….

  14. Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman who feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.” Proverbs 31:25-30GREAT verse! Thanks for reminding me of this verse this weekend! Pictures were lovely =)

You are SO very blessed!  LOve, GAil
