My brother Isaac came over to visit us today (he’s been staying at our sister’s house).  I have three brothers and one sister…I’m the oldest and Isaac is the youngest in our family.  It’s been years (too long) since we were able to spend time with just each other, so the children and I were extra excited to see him.

We wanted to have fun so we played some games at the kitchen table and then, for a treat, we went downtown to a local diner (which has an “Elvis” theme)  for lunch.

We had all kinds of good food, plus ice cream for dessert.

Can you find Davy in this picture?  (And Seth is by me on the floor.)

When we got home we went for a walk in the woods.  It’s nice out today, so I was able to try out my new Ergo infant carrier for Seth.  I LOVE IT.  It’s not uncomfortable to wear at all.  Seth likes it, too, and fell right to sleep, as snug as a bug.  I’m so thankful for a way to include baby in all of our nature walks.

Isaac took this picture for me.  I really wanted one of us outside in the woods.  Our happy gang.

Caleb put his pants on all by himself today.

I think some of our best times together are when we’re walking hand in hand.

Isaac had to leave at 3, but he’s going to come back over again on Saturday.  The time flew by while he was here, and now that he is gone, the next event I am looking forward to is Rich’s return tonight (he’s been gone since Tuesday morning).

What are you up to today?

Love ~Shanda~

  1. Love the pictures in the woods!  I really enjoyed my ergo with Sarah- wish I would have had one with all the kids.  I am sick again.  Fever, body ache, sore throat, cough.  I feel awful!  Ryan is at work, so Bethany and Rachel are holding the fort down.

  2. Great pic’s.  I love diner food – it’s always so fun to hang out at a diner.  Very nostalgic!
I’m glad you like your new carrier–I have been looking at them and I’ve heard great reviews!

  3. Glad you had a nice day with your brother….Your boys look like him.Today?I talked to my son, Zach, one last time.He flies out tomorrow for Iraq. You know….it was only yesterday that he was as big as your Davey-do…then your Ethan…and Jacob. Now he is a man…and this mama would have loved to hug him one more time. The time stretches into years now…between times of seeing him.Hug your littles, Shanda.Soon you will be like me…holding on to the memories of their little hands in yours.xox

  4. I love these pictures — it looks like your kids really enjoy having Isaac along, too.  That’s a great shot of your gang in the woods, and I love the last one, too!

  5. Good times.  My friend has an Ergo carrier, and she loves it too.  I also loved the Moby Wrap.  Very snug and very comfortable.  You look happy, and that makes me happy.  🙂

  6. LOL! That picture of Celeb with his pants on backwards is priceless! Seth is looking right up at his Uncle in the first picture. So cute. You look good, girl! You don’t even look like you just had a baby. 🙂 …and you look so HAPPY. So glad you are feeling better. 🙂

  7. Today (when you posted this) I talked to you on the phone, that’s when I first looked at this post and today I came back to see them again.
I spent three hours at the park and was happily worn out.  Eti and I built a HUGE nest for an imaginary bird that needed a home and I came home smelling like pine cones.
Calebs jeans on backwards is hilarious!  I was day dreaming about going on a hike with your older kids and how much fun that would be to explore your property!  I can see why you love the shot your brother took where the kids are on the rock!

  8. i love brothers! =) glad you got some time w/ yours~ your older boys look like him. funny how that works isn’t it? lots of ppl tell me ben looks like my brother nate!happy easter to you & your little crew!

  9. Oh, I’m so glad you got to have that time with Isaac! I have a brother by that name, and he is the BEST!!!Shanda. You are SUPER CUTE!!! Just like all your kids, which, I will say again that they could pass as your siblings…Thanks for the comment about the Ergo carrier; I want a really, really good carrier for Lee and had been looking at Ergo and Becco Butterfly. My neighbor has a BB carrier and loves it, but said that her shoulders do hurt after a while of using it (also, her son is 11 months old; I don’t know if that makes a difference). After hearing her comment and then reading your review and someone else’s about the Ergo, I think I’ve just about decided on Ergo. I hope to find a good deal!
