Today, I finally accomplished something I’ve been wanting to do for quite a while now. Using a pattern from a book that my cousin gave me for Christmas, I fashioned a long skirt for Grace. She picked out the fabric herself, a soft pink with sparkles all over it.
It didn’t take long to sew, and Grace stayed with me as I worked. I think she looks as pretty as a princess.

She does look like a princess!
So girly, girl!!!! Beautiful.
You did a gorgeous job and she looks so feminine and girly!! She picked a great fabric, even though I can’t see the sparkles in the pictures I am imagining them. Beautiful!
Wow! That is lovely!
I love it! It is beautiful! Great job Shan!
Grace is so beautiful…I love the skirt great job! love ya amanda
I love that book!!! I’ve checked it out from the library before. I must’ve forgotten about the pattern there!!! Today I’ve been making pants for Maryn. I love for her to wear her skirts over her pants….more laundry, but so cute!
Now let’s hope she doesn’t grow 6 inches before December!!! She looks pretty and feminine in that full, pink skirt. Good choice, Grace!
How cute! That looks very pretty, but simple, too. Good job, Shan!
very nice 🙂
Oh, how beautiful!! I’d love to wear a skirt like that myself! 🙂
Beautiful definitely!!
That is a very pretty skirt! You did a great job!
What a lovely skirt…and Grace looks beautiful in it. How special she must feel. I love the pic of her leaning over the cat! Jenny
Great job! I might have to check that book out and start making some skirts. I wouldn’t be able to get away with just making one around here. Have a wonderful weekend! Ryan is coming home tomorrow, and we are going to have Bekah’s party tomorrow evening.
Pretty in pink, she is, she is . . .
That is so so cute…I love it!
That is really nice. You are so smart. Go mom!
How pretty!
Thank you Shanda for accepting my friend invite. What a beautiful skirt you made for Grace. My mom and I used to sew hems, etc., but our attempts at making clothes were never too successful :). My precious mother passed away in 2005 and I do so miss her. I have her sewing machine (an old Singer) that I hope to break out and use very soon. Thank you for your wonderful blog and the sharing of your heart, your family, your amazing photographs and most of all your realtionship with the Lord that has truly spoken to my heart! Be blessed, Jill
Great job!! Yes, your Little Princess is beautiful 🙂
Great job on the skirt. She does look very pretty. 🙂
She does look beautiful, as always!
Lovely! Little girls just seem to treasure special clothes that their mothers take time to make for them.
my mouse cursor turned into a pig
I am feeling so inept! I never sewed a skirt for my daughter because I was afraid of failing! I did sew alot of plain curtains and pillow things. Then my machine burned up. Thankfully, my daughter wants to sew, but that means we have to find her a machine AND a spot in our teeny house where it can live. She is determined and I don’t want to squelch that, so we’ll see what we can do! Keep on sewing, Shanda! I love the pink bow in Grace’s hair that matches her skirt. She’s a pretty little girl who exudes the beauty of both her parents! love, Gail
!!pretty indeed… pink really is just the very BEST color on girls! 🙂
How sweet and cute! Good Job!
Totally adorable!!
It’s beautiful! You did a great job! I was going to make a dress for my daughter this summer. I bought the fabric and some buttons. Then I found out that I was pregnant, my husband got offered 2 jobs, and we decided to move. Maybe next summer? Hope you’re having a great weekend!
oooh—fun!! Was it very hard? I really want to make matching pajama bottoms for us all for Christmas morning–but I’m a little scared. I have a sewing machine but I hate reading directions–>should I even try>?
Tasha tudor er-uh shanda, you did SUCH a good job! The photo is perfect, right down to the matching bow in her hair and the little cat!
