Give me this day some small delight.
Some simple joy to cheer my soul.
A singing bird upon the bough,
A drifting cloud in sky’s blue bowl;
The pealing laughter of my child,
The glint of sunshine on his hair,
The feel of his warm hand in mine,
Of these dear things make me aware;
A blossom in the garden spot,
The music of the poplar trees,
The fragrance of a dew-washed earth,
What could enchant more than these?
Grant me the perception that I may
Live deeply through this chartless day,
And when I go to sleep tonight
Be thankful for each small delight.

Love, love, love the poem, and loved the pictures even more. :o) God bless

Love the photo of the song sparrow eyeing the ladybug! But the next one is a tiny bit sad for the ladybug as it becomes God’ provision for the hungry bird. Great captures, Shanda! I love them!
Good read. It has been several years since I have read any Cather, but I took a whole semester worth in college and had a chance to read a lot of her! Very interesting works.
I love that poem – and the reminder to enjoy small things.
Beautiful
Such a beautiful poem! I’ve never read it before today!You have some excellent, awesome close up shots. Great job!
What a lovely poem — and lovely pictures to illustrate it!
GRACEFUL..
That poem is such an eloquent reminder to live each day with a grateful heart. Thank you for sharing it! 🙂 Hope you are having a blessed weekend!
Lovely! The poem, the photos- I noticed that you chose a photo of Grace with the glint of sunshine on her hair. I really liked the last picture! It satisfies something in me. Was it taken close to where you live? Have a wonderful Saturday!
Honey, I so love your blog. You remind me of myself when my children were small. Of course I only had 2. I also saw you love the Green Gables books me too. I am a 52 year old womam, but I also love the Bobsey Twins, Little House on the Prairie, Little Women, Little Men, Jo’s Boys, and have a lot of those. Also I have a collection of Roy Rodgers and Dale Eavens books. Started reading by the time I was 5 and haven’t stopped. Love, Patty
Lovely!
This is the second time today I am reading this message…..I will enjoy the simple things today! Earlier I was reading in “Seasons of a mother’s heart” and she told the story of a frantic day getting everything right for her 4 year old daughters birthday…when all the little one wanted was to enjoy the beautiful day God had made, with her mother, and the dimestore pinwheel. Indeed, sometimes we try too hard….and should instead enjoy the beauty the Lord has made! Lovely poem and pictures. I so enjoy seeing the beauty around you and your family. blessings, Jenny
A very nice sentiment. Hope you are enjoying your weekend.
