I’ve spent much of the day flopping down on my bed. . .or my hammock. . .or the couch.  Very tired today.  I was awake at 5, up and eating a bowl of cereal at 5:30.  Rich and I went on a short power walk.  At about 8 this morning, I was down at the stream with Caleb for awhile.  He was playing in the water with his rubber ducky.  Once in a while he would lose hold of it and off it would go down the stream and he would say, “Oh!  My duckie, my duckie!!” and go after it.  He was funny, as usual.

Anyway.  After that it was about 9am and I was so hungry again I had 2 fried eggs and half a bagel.  That was that, I had zilch energy after that point in the day.

(By the way, I’ve been eating a lot.  (for two) Like 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 2 dinners every day.  **groan** I am so hungry and only like 8 weeks pregnant!  Does the baby really need THAT much extra food??)

Hungry and also tired.  **yawn**

Rich was home today from work and he said my body shut down and went on vacation because I knew he was home and could take care of things.

Around about 4 we did all go to the library for their book sale.  It was something we had already planned on doing.  And I when we got home I looked through the books I picked for myself.  Does anyone else like Ideals?  It’s a magazine-sized soft cover book filled with pictures, quotes, and poetry.  Perfect for my personality.  I love those sorts of things.  I bought 4 “Ideals” today for one dollar.

Here is a quote I found that I really liked:

“Beauty is a great thing, but beauty of garment, house, and furniture are tawdry ornaments compared with domestic love.  All the elegance in the world will not make a home; and I would give more for a spoonful of real heart-love than for whole shiploads of furniture and the gorgeousness all the upholstereres in the world can gather.

~Oliver Wendell Holmes

Isn’t that the truth?

  1. maybe you are a Hobbit and didn’t know it….2nd breakfastes….snacks mid morning, mid lunch….you never know!! so…take care of yourself….blessings, melinda

  2. That is funny you are eating for 2 & have 2 of each:)   I was hungry in the beginning of my pregancies to, were you like that with all of your’s?   But then they say each one is different:)   I haven’t read those, I will have to look into those.   Our library doesn’t do sales like that, I will have to ask them.   I hope you have a great weekend, I’m sure you will, with your husband home:)  Happy 4th!  I’m going to try to find your recipe for the orange smoothie, it’s 8:30 at night and my husband wants one & I didn’t keep it, or can’t find it for some reason:)

  3. I was so tired at first and then for about 2 weeks felt a little more energy–today I was exhausted again!  And I notice my appetite picking up a little but i’m trying so hard to keep it under control!  I don’t have a lot of gain room this time around!  How is your nausea?

  4. We get a publication called Bits and Pieces which is full of little stories and quotes.  I’ll have to remember that name, Ideals.  I’ve noticed I feel tired even though I’m not pregnant after eating wheat…even 100% whole wheat.  I make a very tired pregnant woman though so I understand that feeling.  Take it easy…get your rest…you’re only growing a child!

  5. How did I miss you announcing that you are pregnant?  I went through your last few entries and found it!  I must have been too busy with the Truck Rally.
    CONGRATULATIONS!

  6. I think my grandma used to get special edition Ideals for us – like Christmas or Easter. I was too young and immature to enjoy them at the time.I think if you’re hungry, go ahead and eat. Just watch WHAT you eat and don’t worry. Delivery is the quickest way I know to loose more than 10 pounds in a day! LOL

  7. “domestic love”  I love it!
Yes, you do need to eat that much dear, you are growing a human remember?  That takes a lot of energy!  Glad to hear you got some rest today, you need it.  Give into the rest and eating everytime you can!

  8. i love LOVE THAT quote. May I borrow it sometime? it’s so good right now to me as I live here with nothing that is pretty in the homey type of way — everything in boxes, no furniture that is mine, no pictures on the way. But there is love. And that’s the truth, I would rather have that anyday.thanks. And oh, I was soo tired today and I NOT pregnant! so I can’t imagine~ or rather, I do remember taking care of five and being pregnant w/ baby. I was tired a lot. But a good tired.

  9. I’m exhausted, too…but no pregnancy to blame it on LOL I haven’t been all that hungry, though.  I’m glad Rich was able to help you out today, too.  I hope you guys have a great weekend.  Love, Trish

  10. Funny how tired you feel at the beginning of preg.  Maybe because the baby is growing so rapidly.  Also your body is preparing ….increasing blood volume and all.  Take care of yourself …glad it is a long weekend for Rich.  blessings! Jenny

  11. It’s good to rest when you can. I well remember the early months of pregnancy and how exhausted I felt. I was a school teacher at the time, and I actually once fell asleep on my lunch break holding a sandwich in my hand!    ~~  I love Ideals. Do they still print them? I used to subscribe and then cut them up to frame and laminate the pictures for use in my classroom. The colored photos were always so beautiful, and in my early years of teaching, all the resources teachers have now were not available. I loved having those beautiful pictures for holidays bulletin boards.

  12. If you are that hungry, then yes, your body/baby needs it!  I have been afraid to ask, but do you ever get morning sickness?  Maybe your body is bulking up now?  /shrug.
I am very interested in the Ideals thing.

  13. Aw, Shanda, this reminds me of earlier days in pregnancy – by mid-morning I was done for! (now the energy usually holds out a few more hours, as long as I had enough sleep the previous night.) I had to chuckle at your husband’s comment about “shutting down” because you knew he was there…what a blessing to have a husband you can feel that way about! So secure, knowing he will “take care” of things! And YOU just take care of YOURSELF and baby…

  14. @Thia7278 – I do get morning sickness.  So far I’m just queasy if I don’t eat enough.  Not looking forward to running to the bathroom but it’s just part of the fun!  I was the sickest with Jacob (my oldest), after that I thought maybe my body was getting used to pregnancy!   šŸ™‚

  15. When I was pregnant with Isaac I had to keep something in my stomach all the time–it was hard though, I felt nauseated so I didn’t feel like eating but when I made myself eat something, I felt better!
