Thank you for praying for David.  It’s almost hard to believe how NORMAL he is acting today.  However, the spot on his tummy is a little worse.  By that I mean bigger, and now it’s all blistered.  It’s itching him terribly.  I had to take him to the doctor’s this afternoon to get it checked.  Thankfully, the Doctor was really pleased with the way it is healing and the way David is feeling.  She told me to keep the spot covered now, because it’s starting to ooze.  So now we don’t have to look at it as much.

I’m much more at ease today.

No more resting for David!  I cannot keep him still.  He’s been catching frogs all day (taking a break for his appointment)  Just as soon as he was dressed this morning, he was outside, walking around the pond, catching them and putting them in a tub of water out on the lawn.

He was really proud of this big one~

He has his appetite back, too.  Last night he had a bowl of spaghetti for dinner and 4 pieces of toast as his bedtime snack.

Today he is enjoying watermelon, his favorite~

Ethan made brownies all by himself today and asked me to take this picture~

It seems like I have been busy non-stop.  My emotions have been up and down.  But we are simply praising God for the way He has taken care of David this week.

My biggest complaint, now that the tylenol has taken away my fierce headache?

My house needs cleaning. . . .again.

Help?

Oh forget the housework.  I think I’ll go crash on the couch and see if I can find a small boy to cuddle with.

Thanks again for praying!

  1. I was just about to message you to ask how David was doing. I’m glad he’s doing better and back to his ol’ mischievous David self. Our houses all look like that from time to time. 🙂 It’s just a sign that there are lots of children running around and much more fun things to do than clean the house.

  2. That is a whopper of a frog. I’m thankful he is feeling better. (Davey, that is) ~ There have been times when I knew I needed to tidy up but didn’t feel like it. I’d tell the children to “pretend company is coming in 15 minutes and we need to get things cleaned up fast.” GO! Then we’d have a treat when we were done. It was fun…and fast. Tell Ethan his brownies looked delicious! My youngest son now bakes most of our cookies…and he does a better job than I. 🙂

  3. That is so hilarious, Gee up on the counter and the microwave wide open! LOL!
It is great news you have your little boy almost back to normal!  I hope your head feels better soon!  If I lived closer I would clean your kitchen and eat most of Jake’s brownies!

  4. Wonderful pictures of Davey, even when he wasn’t feeling too well — love that the Davey truck was there — now you need a Caleb truck!  I’m glad, too, to hear that the spider bite is healing so quickly — the itch is a super good sign that things are getting better!

  5. I have to admit. . .I haven’t made it to the couch, not a bit. . .I’m cleaning and getting dinner, and gave Caleb a bath. . .Rich works late tonight. . .I just put a piece of salmon on the grill for myself.  The kids are listening to “The Story of the World” book on CD and making tents with blankets.  Good times.

  6. (I was about to say, “That’s right Shanda, crash on the couch – the house will wait…,” then I read your comment above. That’s what often happens to me, too, I get caught up in whatever needs done before I can make myself relax; the relaxing is always great, though, with all of that accomplished! Your kitchen looks like such an inviting place! I love the warmth of all the wood and the checked curtains. Seeing the school books and clothes from the kids on the table transports me back to childhood days in my parents’ home – our dining room table often looked the same way!

  7. Glad he’s feeling much better.  And you too.  I know when Lilly is sick, my stomach is in knots and I don’t eat until she’s better because usually, I have no appitite!!
    Wow…..that is one big frog!

  8. so glad He is feeling better — and I remember the itching was a good sign. Praise God.OH what a huge huge frog!!!!! my boys will just love coming over here later to view it! They will think it’s from the dinosaur age! As they were catching frogs today as well ~ and the biggest one we could find on the river was about the size of a cherry tomato! I thought everything in TX. was suppose to be bigger ? 😉 well, I do think the huge snakes we’ve seen ate all the huge frogs ;)praying for full recovery.house is lovely and a live and lived it. wonderful.

  9. Wow that frog is HUGE!  My kitchen resembles yours at the moment.  DH is going to work on it though.  I had surgery yesterday and he’s not letting me lift a finger to do anything.  Good thing he goes back to work tomorrow. LOL  Glad David is on the mend. Suz

  10. Wow, it’s amazing what you miss when you don’t check in for a day or two.  I’m so glad David is doing better!  What a blessing.  I saw the largest spider of my life last summer.  It must have been 6 inches and it was hanging over my head!  It was a Wolf Spider, I was told and they are venomous.  I really didn’t know until then that we had venomous spiders in our area.  That is a HUGE frog!

  11. I can’t believe the frog, it is so big it almost doesn’t look real!  I love the picture of the kitchen-I think it will make other moms not feel as bad for having a well-lived in house-Glad that your son is doing better.

  12. I’m so glad to hear he’s doing much better…when I read about the blistering, I thought “Oh good, he’s healing!”.. I’m very glad to hear this…he’s back to his ol’ David self.  I love seeing Grace up on the counter in that picture, too funny.  I had a bad spider bite when I was about 20, it was on my calf, and my leg swelled to epic proportions…it took major antibiotics, too.  Anyway, I hope you had a great night.

  13. LOL…laughing over the REAL photo of your kitchen. We should all post more real pictures from our homes. When I started homeschooling Brianna, while continuing my art career, something had to go, and that was a neat house. My sister then told me, real friends are those you can still invite over even when the house is a disaster
So glad to hear Davey Do is feeling better! An that is an awesome looking frog…are you sure he didn’t escape out of a story book?

  14. Glad he’s better and has his appetite back.   did they give him steroids for the bite?  Isaac’s getting over a bad case of poison ivy, and I was giving him some by mouth for it.  He was about to eat us out of house and home…lol….I’ve heard they make you really hungry.

  15. So glad David is doing better — and those brownies — yum!! — my kitchen looked a little like that yesterday and I don’t have any children at home!!! — I’m cleaning cupboards and getting rid of things I don’t need anymore — where did all that stuff come from!!!!!!

  16. That is how my house looks most of the time…It doesn’t take a lack of effort to keep it clean -just a bunch of kids going from room to room with their own cares and concerns.  I’m sure you have it all whipped into shape and then crashed on the couch!
I’m glad David is doing so much better.  My girls would love to be there to catch frogs with him.
Make sure to take time to recharge…

  17. So thankful he’s better. . .love the frog.  My kids have caught a few toads this year and a good-sized box turtle whom they named Jim Bob.  He was with us for nearly a week but they released him yesterday to return to his family. . .he wasn’t eating the lettuce scraps we were giving him or the worms the boys were catching for him.

  18. do you all eat the frog legs?? where i live they serve them on the buffets! where i came from i thought only 12yr old boys dared each other at fishing season to try it over a campfire.  glad to hear your little guy is doing better, that bite looked nasty!

  19. Praise the Lord he is seeming back to himself! That is so scary!! I love the giant frog! WoW! I wonder if my kids would even consider touching it??? That is great! As to the house work…it will still be there…it isn’t going anywhere so you may as well find that little one to snuggle and enjoy it! :o) I hope you were able to do that!!!! I have a house full of cleaning that needs to take place, loads of laundry, and some dishes…argh…but like I said, it isn’t going anywhere so I may as well enjoy my cup of tea!! :o) I hope you have a wonderful day! and thank you for sharing your burden with us so we can be a part of the prayer chain for your little guy!! and then be a part of the rejoicing in how Great our God is!! Oh, also, great job to Ethan on those brownies!!! I wish I could grab it off my computer screen and eat it! Yummy! Way to go!!

  20. wow what a frog!!!
