It’s good to humble yourself, right? Enjoy the laugh at my expense. .I don’t mind, really.
This next one is what made us laugh the most. . .the kids roared. I wondered where my neck was?
Considering I haven’t LEAPED in years. . . . .not too bad!
And this is the reason why I have to jump. . . . . .
I made a cake today.
Oatmeal Cake with Coconut-Nut Topping
1 c. quick cooking oats 1 1/3 cup flour
1 1/4 cup boiling water 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter 1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 cup white sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon
2 eggs
Topping:
1/2 cup butter 1 cup chopped pecans (I used walnuts)
1 cup brown sugar 1 cup coconut
3 T. milk
Pour boiling water over oatmeal, cool. Preheat oven to 325. Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Sift flour, salt, soda, baking powder, cinnamon and add to creamed mixture. Add oatmeal. Place in a 9 by 13 inch greased cake pan (preferably fiesta). Bake at 325 for 35-45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean. For Topping: Boil butter, brown sugar and milk in a heavy saucepan for 1 minute. Remove from heat and add nuts and coconut. Spread on baked cake and return to oven under broiler for 1 minute or until bubbly.

nevermind the cake…I want the cake pan! 😉
What fun pictures of you!
Way to go Shanda!! Your form looks great!
I was going to ask you for the recipe, because the cake sounded so good, and there you went and posted it. Yay!! I’m definitely going to try this, I love coconut! The picture of you made me smile. You are very flexible!! Very nice leap indeed!
You are so cute….very nice jumping. I am glad you revived. Yummy looking cake! I am going to go for a walk now over to the garden…..probably will tire me out…but also getting out revives Jenny
Go you!
Wow!! Wait another 10 years and look back at those photos. You will be so thankful that you could even DO that! Forget the form! haha. You look awesome! The cake sounds yummy, and I’m with your first poster…I want the cake pan! :o)
Nice jumping — were you once a dancer?
I agree with the above poster…were you a dancer? I was! You look like you could have been! And the cake….I am really going to have to make that myself! Oh, my dh would like to know…what kind of camera do you have? 🙂
YUM, that cake looks so GOOD. You are much braver than me, getting on a trampoline! LOL Suz
Looks like Fun. I bet your kids thought you were great!
I made that cake once upon a time…YUM!Nice pics, Shanda! You’ll be the mom doing the alligator cheer on the sidelines when your sons are playing sports.I can’t imagine a mom doing that…Nope, not me.:^)
All that love of gymnastics paid off! I’m sure you really entertained the kiddos with that!
Oh my, you crack me up…I love the pictures. The cake looks awesome. I wanted to thank you for your thoughts on my blog entry, it really touched me, and I just wanted to say thanks. Love you.
I saw a very similiar recipe yesterday when looking through my family cookbook. It was one by my great-grandma. You’re hilarious and amazing.
How FUN.
I have a similar recipe ~ oooohh, that is SUCH a good cake!!!
were you a dancer at one time? You do have amazing form!
Lookin’ pretty good for a mom of five! Were you sore the next day?
This was fun! I love your leaping photo’s and that cake looks so delicious! I’ll have to try that sometime!
One time I went to a clients house to meet with her about the upcoming that I was going to shoot. She had a huge trampoline..I couldn’t help myself I asked if I could try it out because I had never been on one before. It was so so so much fun, when I come to your house that will be the first thing that I do! LOL!
You do have great form, were the kids cheering for you as you did it?
I ‘ll give you a 9.5. Looks like you were having great fun!
The cake looks yummy! The pan looks yummy too!
hugs
WOW! I’m glad you were having fun. Did you used to do dancing or gymnastics? We have a trampoline too and I don’t think I can do the jumps quite like you, I think the kids would get a kick out of me jumping, I think I will try it sometime.
The cake looks delicous! I think I am going to have try it. You look like you were having fun!
My son made me do flips on his trampoline. I think I can sum them up in one word…. ouch!
BTW – my legs don’t do that!!!
I don’t even want to know what my legs would feel like the next day if I tried that! I’m in shape, but not THAT much shape. HAHA!
Lol, LOVE the leaps! It looks like you are doing a perfect split in the second one – amazing! And your form in the third reminds me of a ballerina! Very graceful! You’re an awesome mom, and it looks like you get out and regularly “revive,” because you are tiny.Aaah, my mom used to make a similar recipe for oatmeal cake on a regular basis! She used oatmeal we had leftover from breakfast to make it. I haven’t eaten it in years, and this post inspired me to make one soon…
I can still do a cartwheel and will be 55 on Saturday. But, oweeee stretching my legs sure hurts the next day! Keep touching your toes, etc. so you will always stay limber. You’ll be grateful you kept up with it when you are my age (and yes, I used to be a dancer/teacher).
You’re amazing!!
Wow! You rock! Your kids are lucky, their Mom is fun 🙂 Have a great day
Sometimes…it is good to just jump around…
Mmmmm, that looks yummy!
How fun! I’m “secretly” a fun mom at home, too.I am very goofy at home with my kids. I don’t even think my dh knows. 😉
