There is a lot to do today. I have errands to run (with five precious ones in tow), school to teach, and the van to pack. We are leaving tomorrow to go see family. We will visit Rich’s family tomorrrow and have Easter dinner at my parent’s house on Sunday.
Today is Good Friday. A day in which my spirit is meditating on the death of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I was reading Spurgeon this morning and thought I would share this quote:
We never should have known
Christ’s love in all its heights and depths
if He had not died;
nor could we guess the Father’s deep affection
if He had not given His Son to die.
The common mercies we enjoy all sing of love,
just as the sea-shell, when we put it to our ears,
whispers of the deep sea whence in came;
but if we desire to hear the ocean itself,
we must not look at every-day blessings,
but at the transaction of the crucifixion.
He who would know love,
let him retire to Calvary and see the Man of sorrows die.
~Spurgeon
“Herein is love! and truly it is love that ‘passeth knowledge.’
O let this love fill our hearts with adoring gratitude,
and lead us to practical manifestations of its power.”
~Spurgeon
“For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

You have reminded me of what I need to thankful for today. Despite our busy lives, (I have to run errands too!) we need to remember what God has done for us today and be thinking of that. I hope you have a special weekend with your family.
Praise the Lord! Herein is love!
Praying you enjoy safety and a special time with your loved ones. Happy Resurrection Day!
Very nice Shanda! Steve was walking by and said “Oh it’s Spurgeon I have to read this!”
Praise God for the cross! But even more, for the resurrection! I didn’t do a Good Friday post, but decided to add “The Old Rugged Cross” music for a couple of days. I love that old song. Two more days till Resurrection Day ~ Hallelujah! May your weekend with family be so very blessed, Shanda.
“Herein is love not that we loved Him, but that HE LOVED US…” Enjoy your Easter with your family. I can’t wait to hear all about it when you return.
Have a wonderful trip. God’s love is amazing.
This morning I was telling the Lord that I just didn’t know how I could ever express my everlasting gratitude for His wonderful, selfless love. There are not words splendid or meaningful enough. I know you have been missing your family, so I am so happy you will have the chance to be with them. I will be trying very hard not to think about my own family. I have talked to my Mom and both my daughters this week, so I am happy for that. Blessings, dear lady!
Beautiful! Can’t you just picture Him coming through those clouds? Have a joyous celebration…HE HAS RISEN!!
I enjoyed these qoutes! My heart is full of gratitude for the sacrifice and risen saviour that lives! HE”S ALIVE!

What a fantastic quote. I wrote it down in my journal. I love Spurgeon anyway, but his one was such a perfect one for today. Thank you!
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Oh love of God, how rich and pure, how measureless and strong. It shall for evermore endure the saints and angels’ song. Have a wonderful trip and visit with your family this Resurrection Sunday. Thank you for these quotes about the love of God. Blessings to you my friend!

Thank you…have a blessed and fun weekend with family
“He who would know love, let him retire to Calvary and see the Man of sorrows die.” We did just that last night in a Good Friday service at our church (it was called a Tenebrae Service (A service of lights).) It was very moving and effective as we focused on the cross — we were all given a rusty nail when we left to keep us in remembrance of what Christ did for us at Calvary — Oh, what a Savior! Trusting that you and your family will have a wonderful Resurrection Sunday with your families and that you have safety on the roads. God bless you — Love, Jo-Ann
