Rich is taking us out to the Crackerbarrel for breakfast–he’s awesome–it’s just what I needed. . .a morning out. . .away from the endless work that I do love, yet get tired of! Before we head out for the morning, I wanted to share a few photos that I took yesterday, we had a gorgeous mild day. (Today it is raining).
First day of digging. Caleb was SO industrious. They all were.
Bare feet
First day of rocking on the porch, reading a magazine. Country Living and Better Homes and Gardens BOTH arrived in the mail yesterday!
Dirty shoes
Just noticed. . . .flowers coming up!
My little garden helper!
Last night I went out for about an hour and a half by myself. Came home with these classy rubber boots.
I wanted to wear them to breakfast. But Rich wasn’t crazy about the idea.
Have a wonderful Saturday!
I know I owe one of you an email, I promise I will write when I get back.
“Walk with the King today, and be a blessing!” (from Robert Cook’s radio show, Dad used to say this to us kids sometimes)

Yummy…Cracker Barrel…….love the pic of the flowers coming up! I just bought myself some mini daffodils and a hyacinth for indoors to make it look (and smell) more springlike. 🙂
barefeet – muddy shoes – a rocking chair on the porch – IT MUST BE SPRING.
Yummy! I miss you a lot I need to come over this week to go on a walk in the woods with you:) Love the boots they are great! Enjoy your day…Love amanda
I love the boots!!! I am so jealous of your beautiful weather. I can’t wait to see signs of Spring here!!!! Enjoy your breakfast.
Happy spring day…looks like you all enjoyed it. I am happy that you could sit a bit and enjoy a little browsing through your magazines. Those times are refreshing. Do you plant a garden in the spring? Lovely boots! Tell Grace she has cute feet. Have a lovely weekend.
I know you will get plenty of use from those boots when you go for your tramps through the woods! Your porch looks so welcoming. I am crazy about rocking chairs. They are so soothing. I hope you had a wonderful breakfast! Just think…. no dirty dishes!
Very neat blog Shan! Today we woke up to many birds singing and digging in our yard! Jeremy says he saw a couple Robins! My flowers aren’t popping up yet but hopefully soon! I hope you have an excellent weekend too!
I LOVE the boots. My kiddos were running around bare foot yesterday as well. Today we are getting hit with another snow storm. Have a happy weekend.
Oh how fun. I hope you have a blast!
Your breakfast sounds yummy! Yesterday was great. I loved it. We took our first walk to the park of the season and the girls spent much of the afternoon in the backyard. Spring fever has definitely hit!I love those boots.See you tomorrow. 🙂
We just had our flowers come up this week too! There are actual blooms on a couple!!!! I was so excited! I love spring!
The boots are great! I need some of those.
I hope you enjoyed Cracker Barrell! That sounds yummy! Have a great weekend!
oh I love your boots! I was just telling Mitchell I need a pair for the puddles and gardening.
p.s. I would have totally wanted to wear them to breakfast too!
I LOVE CRACKER BARRELL!!! (Okay, T, let’s GO!…) These pictures put me in the mood for spring, especially the one with the flower shoots coming up – love it! Those rocking chairs and porch look so inviting. My favorite home magazine is Southern Living; T gave me a subscription when we moved up here because it makes me feel closer to home. And I can’t find them in this area, not even in Barnes and Nobles! 😮 Have a great weekend, Shanda.
Oh, Crackerbarrel! We don’t have those in Alaska, but I know about them, and I LOVE them!! Loved all the bare feet. My kids have been trying to go without coats, but they are soon back inside- cold and ready for hot chocolate! The sun has been shining (not today, though) but it has only been about 35 degrees. Not quite tshirt weather yet! I really enjoyed the picture of your porch with the rocking chairs. The whole scene was just so pleasing to me. I think the boots would have been just fine for breakfast (especially where I live, ha ha), but pleasing hubby is definitely more important! Have a wonderful, blessed weekend!
Ahh spring! To bad you couldn’t wear your new boots to breakfast. Maybe next time. 😉 Loved the pics of your diggers, bare toes and all! :)Have a great Saturday!
Poop….we’re still in the low 50’s here…….but it’s just around the corner!!!
Love the blog!
I want to come and sit on your porch and talk a while… Do you have any chai tea? 😉
Your photography is getting so artistic in composition and color. These make me feel happy inside. My Bri LUVs your boots
I’m lovin’ the wellies…I have kicked myself soooo many times for not picking up the striped ones that Walmart had a couple of years ago.Happy Weekend!xo
@diaryofamadwhitewoman2 – yes, I do actually! 3 different kinds! Come on over. . . .
I am itching to get outside and plant! I can’t wait for the warmer weather. The sun always feels so good…It’s like Christmas when I get a magazine in the mail or at the library. I love to pour over them ~ good ones like that or course! Love the pictures of the flowers sprouting up, and Grace’s feet! Hope you ate lots of breakfast for me and that you are wearing those super-cute boots! 😉
I love the pics. Spring is my favorite. 🙂
Ryc: Yes I found the lump back in May of 07. I had just finished nursing my then 8.5 month old daughter and was doing a self-exam. I’ve read that if you find something its good to watch it through one menstrual cycle to see if it changes, which is what I did. When it wasn’t better I scheduled an ultrasound in June (they didn’t want to do a mammagram at the time b/c I’m so young). The radiologist really didn’t think it was anything (she spent time yesterday apologizing profusely) but told me if it wasn’t gone in 6 months to come back. In December I had my obgyn look at it at my yearly and he told me to go to a breast specialist. I had my first appointment with Dr. Hagan the end of January. Initially even he thought it was nothing major, but he did persist and when I saw him a week ago Thursday and it looked different, he scheduled the lumpectomy. So suffice it to say, do BSE’s are very important and you have to be your own advocate with your health, otherwise we wouldn’t have found this!
Oh, I love your boots!!!!
How cute they all are digging and helping in their bare feet! Glad it’s warming up…
Okay stop the presses! Is that your front porch? It looks like a magazine! I am swooning over here!
Aw, breakfast in boots would have been so cool!
am just visiting your site, and i loved it, makes me remember the days when my kids were young…..good times! sounds like you enjoy life and that’s so wonderful! blessings on your day….by the way our pond just thawed also, and I WAS so excited! I haven’t posted a picture of it though, but my husband said this morning the lily pads are trying to reach up to the top. I love spring!
OH, those pictures!!! The sight of little bare feet outside! I can’t wait! Us on the other hand are still deep in snow! :o( But these pictures reminded me that it is coming! Spring will be here!!! The pictures are so cute! Now as to the porch! I wish I could think it and just “pop” myself into the picture! :o) It looks so beautiful!!! And the boots…adorable!!! :o) I needed those in my basement the other day! We came home after me being gone to Mayo Clinic for 3 weeks and Jason having only been gone for a few days (we even had someone house sitting) to a lake in our basement! Ugh! I might need to find some of those! They are very cute! :o) Well, I hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather!!
I’d love to treat your family at Cracker Barrel.
@fratmom – You are so sweet!
