We’re having a snow storm.  It’s a winter-wonderland out there.

Rich is working from home today and I’ve been busy with him and the kids.  I love having Rich home when the weather is bad, it is so cozy.

Thanks for being such good sports about yesterday’s post.  Oh my, I was laughing about that all day long, I’ll tell ya, it feels so good to be a stinker (mother of encouragements word for me yesterday) now and then.  Today Caleb has a fever but I don’t think it has anything to do with Electric Ear.  LOL

I know some of you saw a different side to me yesterday but I must confess I say/do things during the day quite often that make the kids howl.  For instance, the other day Ethan told me about a plane he designed that could “drop bombs from the bottom”.  I almost hate to say this but, my response? . . . . .“Wow, Ethan!  You do that sometimes, too!!” in a Very Impressed Voice.  Jacob laughed SO hard . . . (after he figured out what I meant, it usually takes a few seconds). . .he laughed so hard that he almost dropped an air-bomb of his own.    (I’m so sorry, I don’t know what’s gotten into me lately, I’ve cracked up I think.)

David made me laugh today.   He was looking through his coloring book and announced,

“Mom!!  Someone put NAILS in this pumpkin!!”

It was a picture of a pincushion.

**EDIT**

Pictures of today:

Rich took the boys over to the dam to sled down the big hill.  He is pulling Jake and E with the 4-wheeler and David is on his lap.

Grace didn’t want to go sledding.  She was too cozy watching “The 3 Lives of Thomasina” with her kitty, and eating popcorn.

What are your plans for the weekend?

  1. Mommys of many need a good sense of humor. Have a wonderful white weekend. (I am still chuckling over yesterday’s great fun!) I suspect I will be playing housework catch-up and doing lots of reading again, provided the flu that is trying really hard to get started with me stays away. (thanks to the garlic!!!) Love and blessings in SC where it has been pouring rain!

  2. Funny stuff! And boys, especially, love that type of humor. πŸ™‚ I’m sure they think you’re a really cool mom for joining in a little bit.I’m not sure what this weekend will hold… no plans… isn’t that nice??? We’ll probably be painting some…

  3. You are in a funny mood, you little stinker! πŸ˜‰ You always make me smile.
It’s a picture-perfect winter day here, too. Plans? Hmmm…. taking pictures of stuff for eBay, posting things on eBay, buying things on eBay. See a pattern here? lol
Seriously, I’m a~cleanin’ today, with baking plans tomorrow and maybe a movie at home with hubby. πŸ™‚
How about you, dear Shanda? Stay cozy!

  4. What are your weekend plans? I am sure you seldom have a dull moment in your home.
My RL will be home for the weekend and we stay as cozy as possible in our jolly little cottage while he is home. But actually will drive to the Public Library for his supply of books.
Enjoy your weekend with your lovely family.

  5. I was over at “Amy’s Humble Musing” today (forgive me, too lazy to link) and she too had a humorous post.  As I laughed over it, several times, I realized how much we sahm’s need laughter.  It’s good medicine.
My weekend plans are still up in the air.

  6. That sounds nice to have your husband home.   That is funny what David said.   Mom’s need to have fun to:)   I hope you have a great weekend.   Our plans include getting ready to move next week, Woohoo!!!    We have some winter weather here to, ice & freezing rain, yuck!

  7. BOMBS AWAY!! Laughter bombs…that is! Even in sickness, some things can make one laugh. Our young marrieds class at church is having a “Funky Formal” tomorrow night and I have arranged several ladies to help me babysit the little ones while the parents have a fun night out. (Lord willing I will be well enough) My husband will be taking some pictures of the couples…should be some real laughs there too. Maybe I’ll post a couple.

  8. Have your children recuperated from their “Electric Ear” conditions? We’ve had it here as well on occasion. Oh I loved the bomb story too!!!!Having a sense of humor makes all the difference being a mom. Having good laughs with Mom will be cherished memories. We are preparing to take a special trip to AZ to “meet the parents.” So this is pre-packing weekend and getting things all in order so we don’t totally stress out next week. Our departure is next Saturday.Today I love the snow we are getting and it has been cozy. Having your husband home doing his work is very special. Sounds like a hot chocolate and toast day. Have a wonderful weekend!

  9. I loved this post!  and I love snow days!!  πŸ™‚  they are perfect for snuggling up with my kids on the couch and reading stories under lots of blankets or serving them hot chocolate (glorified chocolate milk for the little ones with lots of extra marshmallows) or just enjoying the winter white landscape and thanking God for a warm cozy house!   πŸ™‚  enjoy!!

  10. I must say…I have your same sense of humor! I do and say stuff like that all the time around here! Enjoy the snow, though, I must say, I would much prefer to be cuddled up on the couch watching a movie, (than playing outside in the cold) just like Grace. The sun is shining here and the snow and ice is melting! Spring will soon be here! Ya! Have a great weekend!

  11. “Laughter does good like a medicine”  ….so true.  You just take those moments   I was trying to explain why it smells around a natural gas factory…to a whole car load of kids….that they put sulpher in so you can smell a gas leak…..I didn’t get any further than ” well , that is a factory where they make gas….”   the whole car erupted in laughter.
We (Bob , David , and I) are going over to our friend and youth pastors house to clean this afternoon.  I usually clean for him once a week, but tomorrow is inspection because he just sold his house….so it needs extra and Bob didn’t want me to overwork myself…he knows I pay for it….so it will be more fun together.  Then Sat. we are driving to my husband’s parents home….we are trying to get there every few weeks now because they need the love and support as they are in their mid 80’s and Grandpa is losing his memory and abilites.  They are wonderful and love the Lord!
The snow looks wonderful for sledding and the house looks so cosy….I love the couch that Grace is on.  Praying caleb gets well…bless his little heart.  Jenny

  12. Moms definitely need to have a sense of humor.  Glad to hear that you are enjoying the snowy day with your family.  We are currently on a little weekend getaway.  The place that we had reserved, called and canceled on us (long story), but we have improvised and are in a hotel with a jacuzzi tub.  Enjoying the quiet time with my hubby!

  13. You’re cracking me up!  You are so silly but I love that!  Plans for the weekend . . . seems to be an every weekend kind of thing to have no plans.  Somtimes it irks me. I hear you’re coming to NY next weekend?

  14. Well, everyone looks on the mend at your house!  What was the miraculous cure!?? LOL All we had was rain today, no ice or snow.  Plans for the weekend – we have some work to do at church, measuring for new blinds, and after another group paints, wash the windows and scrub the floor.  I’m hoping to get to BJ’s and buy a new chest of drawers.  At least my house is clean, but I do have some laundry to do.  Sunday will be church and the Nascar race!  Suz

  15. LOL you are too funny. I would have to side with Grace today, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr it is cold outside. This weekend we are working hard on finishing the attic for the boys to move into. Paint, Paint and MORE painting.

  16. we’re having a snow storm of sorts here too… wish we had a cool 4 wheeler to got booting around in! πŸ™‚ looks like such fun.hope the Electric Ear has cleared up.. though, you might want it to stick around longer – it brought a lot of smiles.have a great weekend friend~

  17. ROFL ! I think you and I would have fun getting together in person. I can have a quirky sense of humor too. πŸ™‚ Life can be so hard, we gotta find (or make) humor where we can. πŸ™‚ Have a great weekend. :)Melody

  18. I always love looking at your pictures. You take such nice ones.
I’ve been looking into istock. Have you ever thought of uploading any there? I think you get paid if people download them. Not sure how much or anything. I was looking more to get photos than to upload them. Just a thought!
    Have a great weekend.
