Titus 2

“Believe it or not, all this busy-ness

in the midst of busy-ness

is what you need in your life right now

(just trust me on that).

I can completely relate though.

You are blessed with a pretty positive outlook in general,

and know how to see the beauty in life.

You have a husband to go to

for help and counsel.

Just keep doing the next right thing.”

~Taming of the Shrew, a Christian woman on xanga,
commenting on my woes from yesterday’s post.

I am so glad I shared my frustrations yesterday because the encouragement you all left gave my thirsty soul some much needed refreshment.  How can I thank you all?  I’m so glad that God has brought us together by our computers, so that we can edify and lift each other up. . .pretty neat, I say!

When I read the above comment, I had an aha! moment.  As soon as I read it, my mind started reciting Titus 2:3-5

(I started the day today in the Word, reading Psalms)

The aged women likewise, that they be
in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers,
not given to much wine,
teachers of good things;

That they may teach the young women
to be sober,

to love their husbands,
to love their children,

that the word

of God

be not

blasphemed.

yes, my friend, this busyness is what I need in my life.

Thanks for the reality check.

Titus 2 is written on my heart but I needed the reminder.

It was quite liberating.

Here’s to a better perspective today!

  1. How sweet of Ethan & Jacob to make you all breakfast!    They did a great job.    It is very nice to have the support of such wonderful people on here.   I know for me you have been so much help to me in my spirtiual journey with God and also with the way I reflect in my own life.   You are a inspiration to me and have given me so much hope you don’t even know.
I love reading your posts and feeling so inspired, even on your bad day you have a way to still come across as such a positive person.   I’m glad you are feeling better today and thank you for posting the bible verse!

  2. I forgot to ask you do you think Caleb might have Croup?    Matthew had that terrible cough a few months ago, he sounded like a seal and they had to put him on a steriod to get rid of it.   I hope he is feeling better!

  3. It’s the Word that refreshes us, restores our soul, and brings us hope again when we feel as though we cannot carry on one more second. I am so happy that you feel better today and that you were encouraged by your sisters in Christ. Thanks for sharing the scriptures with us this morning. How sweet for your sons to make you pancakes. I think you are going to have a great day today. Love ya!

  4. You just gotta love all that chaos when it is FAMILY that has created it ~ your children are such treasures and oh, the memories they are making ~ blessings on your day, Shanda.

  5. It gives me great comfort to hear an ‘experienced’ woman tell us to hang in there, that this is a good time in our lives. After all, it isn’t hard at all to find someone who thinks we’re radical to want to raise a family this way.

  6. I enjoyed this post.  Life is so daily – routine – fun – frustrating – and sometimes overwhelming.
One of the blessings of age is having learned (a bit) how to embrace each day by remembering Who is in control – doing my best work – using my best attitude – accepting what comes.  On days when I fail – appologize if necessary – and start over again.
I love the quote:  When you stumble, make it part of your dance.

  7. Two of my favorite passages to teach on and pray for. I hope Caleby is feeling better soon. Now my kids would have included a big sheet over those couches to make a tent. And now I want pancakes for supper! yum those look great! good jobs guys! Love and blessings in SC

  8.
Amen Amen Amen! You reminded me of a time when I was not busy and so depressed because no one wanted my help or service. I felt so useless. And now I’m used up everywhere. You are so right this business IS exactly what I need and I will embrace it for this season! You are such a blessing.

  9. That is a refreshing thought and good reminder!  Seeing the fort reminded me of the crazy/fun things I used to do with my siblings growing up!
The pictures with the flash look great, espesially the first two!

  10. Perspective is everything!!!! Sometimes I want to wish myself to some forsaken land where there is no running water, no food, the people live in huts, its HOT and stinky, and there is illness everywhere…seriously…one day there and I would be so HAPPY to be in my beautiful home, with heat, water, warm sheets, jammies, a fire place, a refrigerator full of food, and healthy children…..I have SO much to be thankful for, to cherish, even the messes and the busyness!A great post today, and you really are an encouragement to us mommies out there trying to love our husbands and children as God wants us too! :)Have a wonderful day!Blessings,K

  11. I agree with ilovemykids3 when she says you are an inspiration even on your bad days and you do guide me on my spiritual journey.  I feel so much like an infant in that respect and I so enjoy your posts to give me such a holy perspective.   I think you are growing such sweet, sweet children (there is a bible verse I am thinking of, but can’t call it to my mind…maybe you know which I’m thinking of?) who will be responsible to God and you should be so so proud.

  12. Wise words and good fun..pancakes and forts! We used to cover a whole room with blankets and sheets…my mom was great about letting us make such a wonderful mess, and so are you!

  13. Thank you so much for let me know what camera is!!!  Is it  hard to use and can I ask is it digital?  I LOVE ALL YOUR PICTURES they are so clear and the color is great!!! Hang in there you should be in my LIFE lol I work full time and try to do all those house things but I only have three children and my house is a constant semi mess and I play catch up on on Sats. Have a great day Blessings, Robin

  15. Hello!  I read Mary’s (aka broncomom) blog, and she thought that I’d enjoy reading your blog.  We just recently purchased a Nikon D40 and I’m starting to fall in love with photography more and more each day.  I’ve loved reading the past few days of your life and enjoyed the beautiful pictures of your family.  I only have two kids and have often times felt the stress and strain that you felt.  And that’s with three less kids!!  hahahaha
I hope you don’t mind if I subscribe… Blessings to you this evening!!

  16. Hope Caleb is doing better today. I’m sorry you had a bad day the other day. Hugs.Being a Mom is hard work isn’t it? Hang in there and remember you are not alone in the “trenches” of this daily life. I am so thankful to have the Lord and my friends online and in person to help lift me up when I am down. I am also thankful that I can help lift them up when they are the ones down. Here’s a big hug and a cup of tea (in a Fiesta Ware mug of course) for you. :)Melody L

  17. Aw.
I have no doubt you’re doing great.  But I do doubt that somedays *I* am (because that is how we are).   Thank you for the honor.  I do hope little Caleb is feeling much better soon.  Tell Ethan and Jacob those pancakes look delicious!

  18. Glad you’re having a better day!  I can so relate to what your feeling.  I’m there myself right now.  I’m so exhausted and feeling discouraged.  I can’t seem to keep the laundry caught up and the house is below my standards of clean.  It’s hard to remember why we do what we do everyday when we get bogged down in the details of everyday.  I have to keep rememinding myself the Lord called me to this job and He will help me be joyful each day no matter what happens.  As long as I focus on Him I’m okay, but as soon as I take my eyes off Him I’m sunk.  Reminds me of the Peter walking on the water to Jesus.  I love that passage!  Hang in there!  Don’t focus on the waves, keep your eyes on the Lord.
