I love Saturdays!

We just took this picture about–10 minutes ago–Caleb was acting like a small growling vicious bear cub so Rich made him sit on his lap and oh, about 5 minutes later he was sound asleep.  By the way, I can’t hardly believe my baby is 2 and a half now.  He said, “oh man” this morning.  (he was copying someone)  (me)

The excitement of the day was getting my annual Christmas box in the mail from Joanna.  We’ve been exchanging gifts every Christmas for YEARS and years.  I can’t even remember when we started.  Do you, Jo?  Probably about 10 years ago?  Around there.

Anyway, the box came today right as we were about to go to the library.  I sat right on the livingroom floor and opened it with the kids huddled around me.  Here are some of my favorites.  I took the photos myself by aiming the camera into a mirror.

A hat!  (guest bathroom mirror)

fingerless gloves!  For outdoor photography in the winter!  (mirror in my bathroom)

and a BEE U TIFUL skirt that fits perfectly!  I can’t wait to wear it with some little white sandals this spring!  (another mirror in my bathroom)

I know, I’m nuts when it comes to photos!   It’s fun though!

The gifts were great, thank you Joanna!

The 3 older boys got hair cuts today.  Right now Jacob, Ethan, and Grace are playing outside.  Rich is sitting on the couch w/Caleb still, studying for his Sunday School lesson that he’s teaching tomorrow.

For those of you who enjoy hearing about mischief–today Caleb shook and shook Comet into my bathtub, and when I sent him and David upstairs to play they went right up, straight into the bathroom, and started running water.  I ran up and caught them both standing in the tub and D was completely w/out clothes.  All in about 3 minutes time.

Well, I’m going to go out w/Rich and read my library books.

How’s your Saturday going?

  1. You are a nut.  I love the hat, it looks very smart on you…and I need some of those gloves, too. 🙂  The skirt is very cute also.  Man, David and Caleb are quite the team of nuts…woo.  I hope you guys have a lovely day today. 🙂

  2. Aw. That is such a sweet picture of your husband, Caleb, and you. LOL! Kids sure do the darnest things!
    Comment back,

  3. That hat was made for you, it’s perfect!!  In the last picture (of the skirt) you’re standing on the edge of the bathtub aren’t you?!?  Silly girl!  Your day sounds fabulous, enjoy the rest of it!

  4. I love that photo of Rich and Caleb. And I love the hat! It looks very cute on you.We spent most of the day waiting for the brakes on our van to get fixed. It wasn’t very fun… but it was very expensive.

  5. Before the post entirely loaded, the hat photo came up and I immediately thought…that looks like a JO hat! :o)You two are blessed to have had such a friendship…with a history together. What am I doing this Saturday? My granddaughter, Eliora, is here –spending the night. You should hear her giggles right now! What a joy!

  6. Hey I think I have the same camera…Is it the D40? If it is will you message me. I have a question about it… WE love Saturdays too.  So great to just be able to hang with daddy…

  7. Jo did well….everything is so you or you make it!   Sounds like you had a great cosy day.   We had a fun day with our “gang” from church.  Watching a friend play volleyball then all going out together.  So fun to be able to all just talk and talk together and laugh.  A quiet night here at home with the fire burning.  We are going to go read out loud from “Little Men”.  It is a fun story and I like how they work at teaching character to all their little men and women.  blessings, Jenny

  8. What nice gifts! I love the hat and the skirt on you…must have been made to order. I bet you appreciate the gloves too. Great friend…that Jo. Your kids crack me up. Never a dull moment. My Saturday: Visited my mother at nursing home, bought a flat of primroses, folded laundry, weeded, pruned, and raked my back yard, prepared collagesof various church activities to be posted on the bulletin board, cooked potluck food for a churchwide couple’s shower (wedding) tomorrow, and went to the gym with my husband. Happy Sunday to you tomorrow.

  9. Love the picture of you, Rich, and Caleb!  Isn’t it amazing that when you make them sit still when they are acting like that- that they usually fall asleep!  Your gifts are all lovely and you look great in all of them.  I love the skirt- so cute!
My Saturday started very nicely.  Hubby is working this week, so he gets up at 5am.  I’ve been getting up with him, but he told me to stay in bed this morning, so I did.  Rachel got up before I did, and she made me breakfast in bed.  What a treat!  I ran some errands, cleaned the house, chipped ice on the sidewalk and porch, discovered that Jake had poured juice on my laptop and ruined the keyboard (the new keyboard that we just put in because my old one was missing keys due to Sarah’s dextrous fingers), practiced music with a couple from church who are singing tomorrow (I will be accompanying them on the piano), discovered that Jake had poured strawberry syrup all over the kitchen floor and smeared it on his hands, face, feet, clothes, etc., bathed Jake, made supper in time for hubby’s arrival home from work, and to finish the day out- I took Rachel to the ER because she had blood in her urine.  She has a UTI and came home with antibiotics.  The children are bathed and have clothes laid out for church, so I should go to bed.

  10. Where you standing on a bed or something in that last picture? :o) Cuteness!! How fun! Are special boxes like that full of treasures so much fun! So funny about the boys!! I have got to get back to posting!! I have been so not keeping up at all! I think I feel so far behind now that I don’t know where to start!?! (not sure why I just typed that last part?) Anyways, love the pictures! Adorable skirt!!! Good job Joanna!!

  11. You got some great gifts!!!!!!!  What a great friend.  I love how you took pictures of all of them on you.
It is funny you talking about Caleb saying “oh man”.  That is one of Landon’s favorite phrases!  He got it from me too.  His new one that started this week was “Oh Gosh!”.  Yep, from me too.   I am glad that I don’t curse because he is a copy cat!    That would be awful!

  12. You look so cute in that hat, it suits you perfect!  I LOVE the skirt too!
    And….awwwwww sleepy boy…so sweet.
P.S. I just now put together that my husband’s family is just like yours (boy, boy, girl,boy,boy- is that right?)  I think that is another reason I am ‘drawn’ to your site.  I like to see a glimpse of your life and imagine what my hubby’s mom’s life was like….
    Have a wonderful day!

  13. Very nice outfit! I have been wearing skirts alot more lately, I feel so more Mom like in them….lol…I am a hat wearer and I have to say that is a awesome hat!!! Have a super great week….ps…awesome pics!!

  14. A Christmas box. How cool! My “BFF” IRL and I try to send boxes (care packages) to each other every few months. I think my favorite thing is your skirt. 🙂 Very pretty.
