bean town

On September 8, Rich and I spent the day in Boston, MA.

But first, on the way there, we stopped at a mall and I took pictures of this fiestaware display at Macy’s.  (I love fiestaware!) Do you see the Sunflower 2 quart serving bowl on the chair?  That was what I bought, along with some Fiesta placemats in the same color.

Isn’t it lovely?

My husband, Rich

I like the pic w/him sitting on the stairs in front of the State building because he actually testified there not long ago. (insurance)

It was a hot, humid day–in the 90’s–and we walked almost non-stop all day.  As I sat here posting the pictures, I laughed to myself.  Rich asked me what was so funny and I said, “Well, I’m just trying to figure out if I should tell everybody that I was in tears by the time we left Boston.”  “No, don’t tell them that”, he said, “let them think you’re tough.”

I AM tough!

Sending a smile to all of my xanga friends. . . . .

  1. I love the library there, too. If I remember correctly the last time we were there that restaurant was not open because of fears after Sept. 11th. It’s nice to see it open again. I’m glad you had a good time all alone. πŸ™‚ So, what are you doing this weekend for your “actual” anniversary?

  2. I released my last one yesterday.  I feel a bit relieved too – but also a bit sad.  I do get to relive my saga next Wednesday when I tell my butterfly story to a home school group in our area.  (Someone was reading my blog.)

  3. Oh, I loved these pictures, Shanda. Looks like you and Rich had a great time together and yes it does look hot! The view from top of the restaurant looks beautiful and your lunch sounded yummy too. I could have spent all day in the library in one of those leather chairs! The Fiestaware looked bright, cheery, and beautiful. Would you ever mind owning some fiestaware from an antique store? Have a great day!

  4. You are such a precious soul.  I could have so much fun in a city like Boston.  We had a group from our old church who were church planting there (a huge need, I hear).  You and Rich are so perfect together.  I love your pictures.

  5. Ooo, the library looks wonderful.  I like the reflection picture too but more for the contrast between the shiny newer building and the building with the spires and character.  Your hair looks really good in these pictures…did you straighten it on this day?  : ) Sending smiles back at you.

  6. Boston’s a wonderful city — but one that can easily drive you to tears!  I remember wanting to see everything — walked the entire Freedom Trail in a day!  It’s such a rich historical city.

  7. These pictures REALLY made me want to set out for Boston! The library pictures were awesome, and the bare feet definitely made me smile. I also love the picture of you and your husband together. You look so young, you could pass for a sixteen-year-old!

  8. The reflection photo and the balloon photo……wowsers!!!  Whenever I see photos of some of the magnificent old photos in the Eastern USA it reminds me that those buildings were most likely built before our state was even a state!!!   I hope I get to visit there some day…..

  9. Boston! What scenery, what buildings, what history!Let’s see? Oklahoma’s most historic buildings would be the mud “soddy” houses the settlers lived in when first arriving and staking their land claims!I love it here – but, Boston DOES look enticing! LOL

  10. I must be truthful and say that whenever I see Fiestaware in the stores I think of you! πŸ™‚ Oh, I miss New England! Thanks for bringing a little piece of home my way today!

  11. Your final confession brings back such memories! We spent our 2nd anniversary in Boston, and melted in the heat. We also did not have the foresight of asking whether our bed and breakfast had air conditioning (it did not!) I’ve always wanted to go back on a cool autumn day to make up for the places we missed because of my own tearful condition! (:

  12. Ah…but the tears prove that you’re an emotionally-balanced “tough” woman.  You know it’s better to let the emotion out, rather than bottle it up and get all bitter and shriveled in your spirit.

  13. Ahh, dear Shanda…you renew the desire to visit Boston. My daughters have visited there and love it for many reasons. I hope to get there someday. I’ll have to wait until my DH has his knees replaced so that we can fully enjoy the trip. Boston will be one stop on the way to Maine and PEI…DH has always wanted to visit PEI. I think that all those years of watching Anne of Green Gables and Avonlea have sunk in. :o) Oops… I am rambling here.Loved the photos..and your transparent admission regarding the tears.

  14. That library is so big!  The building looks old and just makes me want to crawl through the picture to get there!!!!  Sounds like it was a perfect day..despite being tired from the walking.

  15. enjoyed the Boston pics. I went there in highschool and loved the tour of the city and sites.also enjoyed catching up a bit and your writings and daily happenings in your household. Precious. thanks for lifting the Lord up.
