Rich and I got to go away this weekend (alone).  (!!!)  ()

Yesterday we went to Boston and the top 2 pictures are from a cool bookstore that we found.  There were lots of books–floor to ceiling wooden bookcases loaded with them.  Stacked on the floor.  The place smelled wonderful–dusty, papery, old, 100% natural.  I am a book lover and I enjoyed prowling around.  They had taped-up quotes all over the place.

Went back to the hotel after a day–long day–of walking around Boston.  Crashed in bed with the book I was reading at the time (done now).  The link is to follow.  It was really good–I’m wondering if our friend alaskahannah has read it!?

  1. I also LOVE a good bookstore, although I seldom have the opportunity to enjoy one. I’ll have to get the name of this store from you – one of my best childhood friends got married and moved to Boston, and I want to visit her and go to this bookstore. Reading is one of my favorite pastimes, and I have always spent a good deal of my spare money on books. My husband and I recently began reading aloud one from my collection of G.A. Henty books. Have you ever heard of that author?I am so glad you and your husband were able to get away for the weekend!

  2. I just adore books.  I adore the smell of old books and new books.  When I get a new book, I just love to sniff it and breathe in the wonderful smell and think about the wonderful things I am going to read in the book and learn.  They are truly blessings.  Your trip sounds very special.  Blessings.

  3. I would LUV that bookstore!  It looks wonderful.  There is a used bookstore in my town that looks quite the same, but after you’ve prowled through it many times, you already know what you are going to find!   So it would be great to rummage through a new one………
The book looks like one my mom would love……..

  4. I could spend HOURS in a bookstore! I feel like I should come with a lawn chair under my arm! I do so appreciate that some bookstores have comfy chairs! Not in Denmark, though, but I stll don’t read well enough in Danish for me to browse in too many bookstores here. When we go the the States, I indulge, and usually mail a big box of books to myself in Denmark!

  5. We can just get lost in old bookstores.  Have you ever ready 84 Charing Cross Road (or seen it with Ann Bancroft)? YOU would love it. I tiny quick read that will enchant your heart. blessings and gladness that you got some wonderful time together! Love, M in SC

  6. I completely understand this book love of which you speak. Know that smell too…The picture of you on the bed is so cute/funny that is SO me…
How wonderful that you and your beloved got to go away. (alone) (!!!) ( 🙂 ) That is so important, but difficult to do with many kids. I’m thinking that if you as a mother of 5 can make it a priority than I as a mother of 4 should do the same!
    Blessings!
