I took these pictures yesterday –late afternoon–while I was rocking on the porch waiting for my dear husband to come home from work.  I was reading a cookbook when I looked over at Grace. . . . and my mommy-heart melted at the sight of her reading to her littlest brother.

People and places
Of every kind.

Open a book
And you can be
Anything that
You want to be.

Open a book
And you can share
Wonderous worlds
You find in there.

Open a book
And I will, too.
You read to me,
And I’ll read to you.

Then, Daddy came home and I took a couple pictures of him with his little girl.

Have a happy weekend, dear xanga friends!  I added the cookbook link to this–I think you will like it as much I do–it’s beautifully, thoughtfully written–with lovely photos, quotes, thoughts, and recipes.

  1. Lovely entry, lovely family.   I thoroughly enjoyed  your entry!  Darling!  Your entry on the family reunion was neat too.
And ya know?  This cookbook fascinated me…I started having visions of company dinners dancing in my head other than pasta!  lol  (I ordered that book!)

  2. Wonderful pictures. I love the way your daughter was showing love to her brother by reading to him. It makes me smile. Have a great week,Hugs MelodyP.S.RYC: When we did the curtains, we left a very small hem at the bottom. I know, we aren’t supposed to, but it was easier. I am adding to the top, because the plaid might be “off” just a smidge and I don’t want it to show. The extra 2 inches will come from the back side where the top was folded over for the rod. Then the new addition will be on the back side for the rod to go through. It won’t even show. 🙂 Not my idea, its my friend’s. I think its going to work. 🙂

  3. what a lovely tribute to your prevcious friend! there is truly nothing like them is there? your daughter looks just like her daddy and he looks so peaceful having her there in his lap… such sweetness 🙂

  4. oh good!!!  someone else who loves to read cookbooks!!!  (i’m still planning to get that photo of the town of Grace sign…….now I’ve been waiting for it to stop raining………)
