There is nothing that will make you a Christian indeed, but a taste of the sweetness of Christ.  Samuel Rutherford

(I love that quote!–Samuel Rutherford is wonderful to read–he is such a good example of someone who loved Christ with all his heart, soul, and mind)

I wanted to share another one of my favorite hymns.  We sang this one in church on Sunday.  I took the sunflower pictures in my garden this week–our first bloomed sunflower of the season.

Oh for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer’s praise,

The Glories of my God and King, the triumphs of His grace.

My gracious Master and my God, assist me to proclaim,

To spread through all the earth abroad, the honors of Thy name.

Jesus!  The name that charms our fears, that bids our sorrows cease;

‘Tis music in the sinner’s ears, ’tis life, and health, and peace.

Hear Him, ye deaf; His praise, ye dumb, your loosened tongues employ;

Ye blind, behold your Saviour come; and leap, ye lame, for joy.

He breaks the pow’r of canceled sin, He sets the pris’ner free;

His blood can make the foulest clean;

His blood availed for me.

Charles Wesley, 1707-1788

  1. This is such a great old hymn of the faith. I especially like the last verse. I had to learn that even though there were sins I was forgiven of, there were still things that held a certain power over me. I am thankful that I am forgiven, saved and delivered from all the trash in my past! Kinda reminds me of the Lord’s Prayer by a four year old who said “….. and forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who pass trash against us!”

  2. Amazing pics.  Did you use a tripod or were you able to do that while holding the camera?  Looks awesome, and the hymn is classic.  I like that you post hymns; I don’t sing them as much anymore, but I still remember the words!

  3. Thanks DD. I’ll remember to “can the trash”.
    How can people not see the relevance of the hymns today!! BTW – Still haven’t gotten my praise team to sing a hymn yet, but I’m close.

  4. I saw you on one of my subscribers site and thought I’d visited you before. Sure enough I did. Scrolling through all your lovely pictures I see my dream dog…chocolate lab…does it have green eyes too? And because of my age I can’t for the life of me remember what else I saw that made me want to comment. Oh well. God bless ~~ janet

  5. the photos are awesome :o)  the hymn is also one of my favorites……….loved the “frog legs” story on your previous post.  Maybe when the cat ends up in the water she will think twice about hunting frogs…….or maybe not :o)
