This Saturday we are traveling back home to celebrate Rich’s Grandma’s 90th birthday.  I decided to give her a framed photo of the children in front of the quilts that she made each of them when they were born.

  1. How thoughtful and sweet, Shanda. She will love it and I am sure she will be truly touched. All your children look so cute and the quilts are beautiful too. Great idea! Love, Tara

  2. How precious!
What gorgeous quilts. My Mom made every one of our kids knitted baby blankets. I should do that for her. I love your idea and your children are so beautiful! The picture on the top of your page is one of the cutest little pictures….I love how he’s walking along chewing away on that.
    Have a great day!

  3. Beautiful quilts, did I ever tell you I am a “quilt freak” I like anything quilted. What a precious gift to give your Grandmother, I am sure she will treasure it. Have a FUN time at her party.

  4. what a GREAT way to honor your grandmother!  i love quilts!  i made a couple myself….and realize the tremendous amount of love and time that goes into one.  i made a scrap bag quilt out of all the fabrics consisting of my 3 daughter’s clothing.  i made one quilt….and i have 3 daughters.  now what do i do about that?  hummmmm?

  5. I also read Nancy Drew…there’s a new movie out about her; I’m NOT excited about it, and I probably WON’T see it.  I also read Babysitter’s Club.  As you can tell, we have a lot in common when it comes to books!  🙂  L.M. Montgomery is great.  You know, there is a sequel to Rebecca.  It is fan fiction and it is called “Mrs. DeWinter”.  I remember liking it.  I can’t remember who wrote it though.  Are you familiar with fan fiction?  I only recently learned what it is (though I’d read it!).  It is when a fan writes a sequel or prequel or whatever to finish out the stories that they loved.  Alexandra Ripley wrote Scarlett to finish out Gone with the Wind.  It’s that sort of thing.  Not always good, but it can be entertaining for sure.  I meant to tell you that Hitchcock made a movie out of Rebecca.  I remember thinking it was good, though like every reader, not as good as the book.  I love a lot of Du Maurier’s books.  Another two that I really like by her are My Cousin Rachel and The Flight of the Falcon.  Okay, I’ll stop now….lol

  6. I have to agree about Scarlett.  Weird is what it was.  I think GWTW finished just like it was supposed to–with Scarlett not getting what she wanted for the first time.  I will warn you about Mrs. DeWinter, though…it was a long time ago that I read it–like 9 years ago, so I don’t even really remember what happened.  It may not be good; I was definitely more immature in my assessment of books back then.  🙂  I love having lots to read.  I’m actually planning on going to the library today!  Not that I need any books…I have plenty unread ones on my shelves.

  7. I love that first picture! Now, how many attempts did it take before you got one with everyone smiling and with their eyes open? That’s amazing :)(There are seven kids in my family and I tell you, everyone dreads the 100+ picture fest that is attempting a Christmas card;)

  8. What a PERFECT idea!!! She’s going to be one happy grandma!.and that picture of your youngest son at the top—well, it just doesn’t get any cuter than that!!!!!  I LOVE quilts.   I have some quilts that my dh grandmother made, but they are too fragile to do anything with………and I have some quilt tops that my grandmother made, but they have not been batted or quilted……….I have made comfortors, but not a quilt……YET.  Making an honest-to-goodness quilt is one of those things I hope to accomplish during my lifetime.    You have come up with a very special gift for grandma’s 90th birthday…….I can tell you think from the heart.

  9. What an absolute treasure! I love things like that… they’re priceless! The pictures are perfect! The kid’s outfits go perfectly with the quilts… did you try that!? That’s such a great idea about giving those pictures to Rich’s grandmother. I’m sure that will mean the world to her!And thanks for the letter! I will respond quicker than I did last time! Have a WONDERFUL weekend!
