So, what do we do when hubby has to work late?  Go to sister’s house to pass the time away!

and did our best to ignore the toads!

By the way, the toads are almost gone.  They used our pond to “do what they had to do” and then hopped away.  I have never seen anything like it.  Husband said that the family who used to live here told him that it would happen.  I know it seems like nothing, but it was honestly quite disturbing to see so many.  I felt kind of sick by the end of the day, after an entire day of seeing them and almost stepping on them.  One toad is kind of cute, but hundreds are NOT.  The plague in Egypt really came alive for me!

Despite the toads, yesterday was a lot of fun.  It was so nice to spend the day with my sister and her girls.

There are no flowers grown in the vale
Kiss’d by the dew, woo’d by the gale,
None by the dew of twilight wet,
So sweet as the deep-blue violet

  1. What a fun time ~ yeah, I was thinking Egyptian plague too!  Wouldn’t it have been awful to have them coming in your windows and doors and hopping into beds, etc.?  ~ whoa ~ that’s enough of that!  Beautiful post ~ love the poem at the end.

  2. No, I didn’t get my camera yet — still comparing — such a hard decision when you don’t know a whole lot about them and I want the best buy for my money!  Looks like you had a fun day with your sister — my closest sister passed away about 3 years ago (cancer) and I miss her terribly and my only other sister lives in Roanoke, VA (I live in NY).   I have “sisters-in-Christ” who are wonderful but they just can’t take the place of “blood” sisters!   Cherish your relationship!    Have a wonderful day!!

  3. I’m glad you guys had such a lovely day together!  Just so you know, I’m joining a book club with some ladies from our church.  I’m so excited!  Although, it doesn’t take much to get me excited…

  4. great pics- all of ’em!  Seems like I keep repeating myself on your blog lol but hey you stop putting up great-fun pics and I’ll stop repeating myself!  =0)  lol
Her little girls dress is really cute!  and I love the shot with the my little ponies!  So glad the frogs are gone!
    Have a  blessed Friday!

  5. How wonderful that you live close enough to visit – looks like you had a great time together. Just looking at the pictures made me feel quite “homesick” for a visit with my only sister who lives in California and who I haven’t seen since we left the USA more than three years ago… What really caught my eye were the trees in the background of the first picture probably because we would really like to live out in the country. I enjoyed the flower pictures – isn’t God’s creation so amazing…so great that with modern technology we can take pictures which we can almost instantly share with others! Hope you have a great weekend! ~Colleen~

  6. Sisters are great! I wish I could hug my sister right now, but she is on the other side of the ocean from me! I “hug” her through e-mail and letters. I can imagine that those toads would be disturbing! I shuddered watching the video clip! I remember when we were kids the family was out driving in the country and we saw something black in the road ahead. It was thousands of little black toads or frogs crossing the road! We waited and waited for them, and they just kept coming! Finally my Dad said he had an appointment he needed to get home for, and was going to have to drive through them ………Ewwww! It was gross. We all felt a little sick knowing what the car had done. Nice story, huh? Sorry! :- /  It’s amazing what is stored in my head! LOL!

  7. I talked to A. this morning and she said she had a great time with you yesterday. I hope my girls grow up to enjoy each other’s company as much as you two do.I showed Josh your video last night and he said, “that’s disgusting.” 🙂

  8. Well I must say you two have some adorable children….But you sisters are totally rad!  LOL   Very cute young ladies indeed!!!!!  Loved the photos…and those toads..eeeew   I know how you feel. We used to live on acreage, strange things can happen!  lol
Thanks for the encouragement, I’ve sure been needing it lately….lot’s of little ups and downs,
    Hugs!  ~Amelia

  9. What a nice day.  My sister has chosen to not have any contact with me.  I wish we could have a day like this together!  (Thankfully, the Lord has provided lots of other “sisters” to love.)

  10. What a great day that was!  I love seeing pictures of you and Amanda together.  Sometimes I wonder if my sister and I will ever be that close again.  Love, Elisha

  11. Once again I feel totally refreshed just from visiting your site.My soul delights in your images and simple words…imagin if newspapers or tv were filled with such things.
