  1. I’m glad you found a way to work this out and have peace about it.  I’ve felt before too that sometimes the Lord tests us just to see if we’d be willing to give something up.  And I totally understand about this xanga stuff, sounds just like me.  I started having Mondays as my xanga fast, where I don’t do anything on xanga that day.   Be Blessed~

  2. I think more than just chopping things totally out of our lives, the Lord is pleased when we learn how to discipline ourselves and live in balance. As in the story of Isaac being sacrificed, God wants to know He is in first place in our hearts and lives. I used to post every day on Xanga, and it was just too much. Because what I do is write devotionals, it took a lot of my time. Now I post every other day, and probably when I start taking another graduate class towards my therapist’s license I will have to cut back even more. May God give us wisdom to have our priorities where they need to be! You are a blessing to me on Xanga as well as to many others. I love your tender heart, your sweet devotion toward your family, and your passion for God. I would have missed you! :- )

  3. I’m so happy you’re sharing this.  I’m in the same place as you.  I know my computer use is out of control most days.  I just waste so much time here while I could be doing other more important things.  Reading your point of view and what God is working in your heart is an inspiration for me.  So, thank you for putting it into words.

  4. Ahhh…the freedom that comes with submission!  Only in God’s World does it work that way!  This world just doesn’t understand it.  Thanks for sharing.  What a testimony of His grace. – Alesha

  5. Your humility and openess also convicted my spirit. Blogging is a ministry and a way to preserve family memories and heritage, it just needs to be done in a balanced way.I so enjoy your site because you use xanga in the same way I do…mine is more like a photo journalist, while your seems more intimate and poetic… both praise the Lord and share with others His power in our lives.

  6. Thank you for sharing this.  I think we all struggle with balance.  I feel blogging has enriched my life in a lot of ways.  I love the people I have ‘met’ and have really grown to love. I look for more beauty and fun things to take pictures of that I otherwise might have missed.  I also am so pleased when blogging about my real everyday struggles, joys and just plain life can bless or encourage another.  So of course blogging can be a really great thing.  I do find that there are times I spend too much time thinking about blogging and actually blogging.  That is when I have to bring even my silly blogging habits before the Lord (just as you did).  He will always guide us and show us the right way.  You are a wonderful lady and I am so blessed to know you (even if only through our blogs :))

  7. I know how the PC can be….sucks you in and one site leads to another…one comment to another…and next thing you  know- you’ve become so engrossed in “cyberlife” that your “real” life is neglected. Remember to do ALL THINGS as UNTO Him, and you’ll find a number of things not worthy of your time. 🙂
Thanks for the comments you left me! The post was more time consuming than I thought it was going to be!! (lol) I love the hymn too!!!
    Happy Easter!! Cass

  8. I will admit Shan that I do have an addiction to xanga.  I have felt it lately too and I am glad that you are following God in letting go of this distraction.  It has inspired me to do the same.  I was finding myself taking photo’s not for the shear enjoyment of creativity but with the intent to show them off.  God doesn’t want my attitude to be like that.  Thank you for being a role model.  All my love.  Elisha

  9. Wow!  I feel so convicted.  Your post brought tears to my eyes.  Thank you for sharing your heart.  I have been encouraged and challenged by your blog many times.  Even though we’ve never met in real life, I consider you a dear sister and friend in Christ!

  10. I am so thankful and happy that God is touching and moving in your heart. I praise God that you are so sensitive to His Spirit. We are all touched by your openess and God can use you to touch many other women here. We are all human and we can learn from one another. I pray that you and your family have a wonderful Easter. Love, Tara

  11. I’m so glad to hear that Shanda. Your postings are such a blessing to me in so many ways! Don’t feel that you have to “stop by”  my site, it’s good just to read about your life, and share (via your posts) in God’s goodness. Thank you for sharing from your heart. It IS a ministry and I AM blessed! ~Karen~

  12. I am so with you, dear sister in Christ.  Thank you for sharing your struggle.  I also found a need for self-discipline in this area and with you, now have peace about it.  Takes some time to work through its place in our life and how the Lord might use it.  Have a blessed Resurrection evening.

  13. thanks for sharing your heart. I have been debating myself about closing down my site lately……so I realize your struggle…..I am glad God freed you and you are learning what He wants for you to do……..sometimes it is good to look and see where we can  get distracted and change our routines…….

  14. It is so good to be back and get to see your site again. I hear you about your struggle, sounds like most of us have to figure out that balance and sacrifice something to do what really needs to be done. You are on the right track! hugs~ Lynn
