What language shall I borrow
To thank Thee, dearest Friend,
For this Thy dying sorrow,
Thy pity without end?
O make me Thine forever,
And should I fainting be,
Lord let me never, never
Outlive my love to Thee.
Paul Gerhardt, 1607-1676

But drops of grief can ne’er repay
The debt of love I owe:
Here, Lord, I give myself away-
‘Tis all that I can do!
Isaac Watts, 1674-1748

Heav’n above is softer blue,
Earth around is sweeter green!
Something lives in eve’ry hue
Christless eyes have never seen:
Birds with gladder songs o’erflow,
Flow’rs with deeper beauties shine,
Since I know, as now I know
I am His, and He is mine;
Since I know as now I know,
I am His and He is mine.
George W. Robinson, 1838-1877
My heart is stirred when I am singing hymns in church on Sunday. I love to watch people in the congregation singing and I smiled when I noticed my husband and Mike sharing a hymnbook today on the platform. What a blessing to see men sing! What a difference Christ makes! “Joy and gladness. . .and the voice of melody.” Isaiah 51:3
“Sing when the day is bright! Sing through the darkest night, every day, all the way! Let us SING SING SING!”

amen
Thank you for sharing the hymns. They mean a lot since I wasn’t able to go to church today!
I love hearing my husband sing to the Lord. Sometimes I have a more worshipful attitude when I stay still and listen to him praising God. The power of a man in God’s presence is awesome!
love the picture of “rejoice in the Lord always.”
I love those hymns — I sang them as I read them. I just love the old hymns. Some of the new music is good but it just doesn’t have the “meat” the old hymns do. A hymn that sticks with me and memory takes me to it so often contains the words “prone to wander, Lord I feel it, prone to leave the God I love; here’s my heart, oh, take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above.” Oh that I might never leave the God I love! — my husband and I sing in our church choir and now our son and daughter-in-law are there too and our son has started to do some solo work which just pleases me so much — he has a wonderful tenor voice and I’m so thankful he’s using it to serve the Lord. God is good.
What a beautiful testimony. Nothing like those good ol hymns! : )
Happy Sunday! Love, Amelia
Singing and the words of the hymns touches hearts and lives! A ministry to those who are searching, sorrowing, hurting, rejoicing, etc. Keep on singing :=)
soon as I get my voice back after this latest cold thingy, I’ll be right back in there with you! I’m sure God loves my croaking, meanwhile… Cheer! ~M.E.
I love a good praise song.
Beautiful hymns. I love seeing men singing, also. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
Singing is brings me so much joy, and even when I’m down, it just changes everything. Have a good night. *hugs* 🙂
I love those hymns, and I love singing hymns in church. That last one so beautifully describes a life lived in Christ – so beautiful, so much to be thankful for, so expressive of the joy of the Lord! Thanks for sharing the beautiful lyrics!
I love singing hymns and praise songs! I really do, and i love the feeling I have when everyone else is singing around me…it’s so amazing to know that go God, all of our voices sound beautiful! How He must smile to hear us all, singing to Him from our hearts!
Isaac Watts was an amazing songwriter ~ “the debt of love I owe” ~ I love how he found the words of our hearts.
It is so great when we are all lifting our voices together to praise the Lord! Won’t it be amazing when we are in Heaven doing it around the throne?
I have to close my eyes when singing in church…otherwise I’m taking pictures with my mind! The beauty and joy of worship fills the air and lights up faces
